Noticed just now. It’s like some wood/cardboard installed on the backside of the cab.

Smartass answer: it's some wood or cardboard installed on the backside of the cab.

Uniformed answer: sound deadening material? If it needs to be replaced - which isn't obvious, to me at least - the bed needs to come off.

Are you outside your 3/36k? If not dealer warranty. If so, I would check with a trusted body shop.

It’s a 2023 with 26k miles so I’ll be taking it in next week for sure. Just hate that the truck could be in the shop for god knows how long for a piece of cardboard trim. And why would a company install something like that on a vehicle that’s always out in the elements anyways?

Well not doubt for cost. It will be interesting to see what the dealer has to say about and to see what it actually made from. Wonder if it’s common to both the Lightning and the ICE F150’s?

There are foam pads glued to the back of the cab for sound deadening. Yours are coming loose. In order to fix it, they will have to pull the bed.

I'm out of 3/36k warranty and have one coming loose. I'm not going to worry about mine, but you should get yours fixed.

Excessive is the foam pads they glued under the 2021 ICE trucks. On the crew cab model, the foam pads under the floor would come loose. They would hang down and drag on the driveshaft. You wouldn't think that would be a severe problem, but it was. There was a huge safety recall over it. When the foam contacted the aluminum driveshaft for an extended period of time, it would score the metal. There was a few failures, and after inspections, many driveshafts needed replacing.

They now install that foam pad inside the cab, under the carpet.
