Over the past few weeks, I have been having intermittent issues where CarPlay is not producing any sound when I first start the truck and the phone connects. This could be music, an audio book, or even a phone call -- when this issue happens there is no audio coming through the speakers.

To fix the issue, I have to disconnect the CarPlay using the menus, wait for a bit, and then re-connect the phone CarPlay. Usually that works.

Other times, I have no issues at all and everything works. It's an annoyance, but most troubling is when I'm on a phone before I enter the truck, and then CarPlay connects but there is no audio, and after wondering if the connection dropped, I then remember about this intermittent issue, scramble to switch audio back to the phone while I'm working on the menus to disconnect and reconnect CarPlay.

Does anyone else have this issue?

I have this issue also. I'm assuming it is a software thing that maybe they'll fix in a future APIM update.

Yep, same here. It also happened to me when I was driving my dad’s ’23 ICE F150 with the 8” display. I’m sure it’s some kind of software glitch, either with iOS or the truck.

I’ve had this issue driving my mom’s Kia EV9 as well, so I’m not sure it’s a Ford problem.

Having that same trouble intermittently. And also CarPlay connecting issues.
sometimes (quite often) it doens not connect, then I have either to turn the truck off and on, and/or switch the phone off and on.
it’s a bit frustrating and this should be flawless. Perhaps a software upgrade?!?!

I wrestle with the Ford/CarPlay interconnect (or lack thereof) all the time - as recently as this afternoon. I have problems with it even when my iPhone is jacked into the truck with a USB cord. I'm not optimistic that it will ever be fixed, in part because I suspect that most of the problem lies with Ford (and other OEMs) who 1) are lousy at software and 2) use marginal third-party hardware to support the connectivity. That said, I would never buy a vehicle that didn't have CarPlay support.

Yes, I have this, the mentioned intermittent connectivity failures, and a general lagginess. These are my biggest annoyances of an otherwise amazing vehicle.

I drove a rental Pacifica recently with wireless CarPlay and the difference was staggering. It always connected nearly instantly, and had virtually no lag. Very frustrating that a vehicle of this caliber doesn’t have it figured out.

I have noticed this issue also in the last 2-3 weeks. It is likely a software issue with Ford or in my case Apple as updates are deployed from either side affecting the Bluetooth drivers. I have a cable plugged into the center console that is solid so I have been using that for now until patches come out.

Yep I get it as well and do the same thing. When I get in I’m ready to bump some music but have to wait for reconnection😩 hope it gets fixed soon.

When something changes with the way CarPlay works, I normally blame Apple since they roll updates often and are notorious for buggy updates.
I have read that asking Siri a question can reset the audio in some situations, but I haven’t had my CarPlay glitch lately, so I haven’t tried it.
I rented a Hyundai a while back and the CarPlay would not stay connected for more than about 30 seconds, cable or not, so it’s not just Ford.

I have a different issue with CarPlay. All functions work except it will not play my music library that's on my phone. I believe it is an issue with IOS as I have the same issues with CarPlay in my 2017 Mustang. All functions worked on both vehicles until a few months ago and I install all IOS software updates as they come out. I have called Apple support and they could not come up with a fix.

what power up version are you guys on? I reported this issue back in November IIRC around Power up 6.3. I sent them logs and I never asked about it but i no longer have the issue. I have Power Up 6.13. I have to guess around 6.8 is when it got resolved.

6.5. Stuck until I get the LVB sensor recall done, or do the upgrade myself. It’s been a bit since I did that, there are probably a bunch of updates to go through to warrant the $60 FDRS license.

My wife has a 2016 Toyota Camry that never updates and carplay always works on, while I have the same Issue in my lightning. The problem seems to be Ford.

Are you using wireless CarPlay on your truck?
