They'd better start using armor cables now that crooks know what the cord is worth.

US ought to just pay Tesla to put in CCS next to their SC stations. They already have most of the US covered. Why re-invent the wheel. I just need one at Three Rivers.
Tesla already announced plans to do this...

I haven't met an armored cable in my 20 year electrical career that couldn't be cut with a portable bandsaw.

……right when it became clear that there was going to be some government money on the table. Not that I blame them, that’s truly a win-win for everyone, Tesla, drivers, and even the government that will get more bang for the buck this way. My one concern is that the money will be passed through the individual states, and if they can find a way to waste some they will.

wasn't there a plan in the works to allow other EV's to use superchargers for a fee? Is it possible with the right adapter?

No. You can buy an adapter to use a Tesla destination charger, but not a supercharger. Tesla needs to add CCS hoses to them.

A post on twitter is not a plan.
It isn't for most - most gather news conferences, run for office on their plans, get elected and still do nothing. Musk can Tweet in under 120 characters and typically delivers.

As for the other posts - before the govt offers some money, why would Musk open his network to other manufactures who are sitting and doing NOTHING for charging infrastructure. Why promote their brand when he can his own.

Musk has the infrastructure, the plans and knows how to build a station, now if the govt wants to give him money to help out, maybe now he can/will. No need to otherwise. The states will likely just piss the money away and deliver very little. I hope I'm wrong there.

Tesla wouldn't even need to replace the cables--they could offer a CCS adapter that would work with their superchargers. It would likely need to be throttled to prevent thermal issues, but that would be ok if used as a backup for CCS-based networks.

I would gladly hand over $500 for this adapter if it meant that I would have access to the Tesla network.

Musk could get upset at other manufacturers and disable CCS charging at Superchargers with a tweet. Not good for (others) business plans.

You may want to read about Tesla's pilots of existing supercharger locations.

Well he is better than most and now that there is some money on the table, he'll bite. Plus don't diss him too much, we need his chargers if you want to travel far without worry. EA has too many gaps and reliability has been a huge issue compared to a Supercharger.
