There is so much "rationality" in this thread about everything, but I don't believe Ford is really a rational actor at this point, unless "rational" means just doing whatever makes the most money. Ford has made way more net income/profit over the last two years off of significantly less total revenue and sales. As long as Ford is going to sell every unit it produces, it's not really going to behave rationally.

If they screw over early reservation holders like me, that will piss me off and I may drift further away from Ford. But right now, Ford doesn't care. Ford is making crazy money right now and it doesn't really have to treat its customers well. It just has to have a desirable product.

Same things go for tax incentives. If Ford makes pricing decisions that screw over customers on their tax rebates, Ford probably won't care as long as its selling out.

I do think this is all a bit short sighted though. I think screwing over reservation holders, screwing over people hoping for tax credits, and prioritizing ZEV states so heavily will harm Ford in the long run.
Ford is a corporation. They have a legal duty to make as much money as possible for their shareholders. So yes, acting rationally would be them acting to make the maximum possible profit.

No, they don’t have a legal duty to make as much money as possible. Yes, they should maximize value and have a duty to do that, but share price and revenue aren’t perfectly correlated. And sacrificing long term value for short term net income increases isn’t a requirement of any legal or fiduciary duty.

many companies make little to no income while maximizing share price. It all depends.

But in any event, I believe Ford is valuing efficiency and net income over customer relationships. That also isn’t required by any fiduciary or legal duty.

Does anyone know if people over the income limit will get a partial credit or is it all or none?
There is no "phase out" language in the current proposal, so it looks like all or nothing.

The problem is people are buying Tesla’s to flip them quickly and make a quick buck. IMO the demand isn’t as big as people think,
If people are buying them and then selling them for >MSRP, then yes, demand is very high relative to supply, despite having way, way more supply than any other EV manufacturer.

Ford won't budge on Pro price until after Silverado EV comes out, and only if Silverado WT price gets bumped up.
IMO, it will go one of two ways:

Ford raises the price substantially, indicating that they plan to actually make a substantial amount of retail Pros for MY2023.

Ford keeps the price the same for marketing purposes, and continue building just a token amount for MY2023. If you hardly make any, then the margins don’t really matter.

Looks like Order Open moved 1 day earlier than last update. Better than moving another week away.

Per Friday's FDNB (Fleet Distribution News Bulletin), below is the updated schedule for the 2022/2023MY F-150 BEV Lightning.

  • 04/01/2022 - 2022MY Fleet Final Order Due Date
  • 07/28/2022 - 2022MY Last Day to Spec Change
  • 10/09/2022 - 2022MY Balance Out Date

  • 08/09/2022 - 2023MY Order Bank Open Date
  • 08/04/2022 - 2023MY Scheduling Begins (Update Pending)
  • 10/10/2022 - 2023MY Job #1 Date

The 2023 F-150 BEV Lightning Order Guide will be released on or about the date that the 2023 Order Bank opens and will be available for download in the Dealer Order Guides section at that time.
All dates are subject to change.

So what do we know about tomorrow? Awfully quiet. I think we would have heard from dealers or something if tomorrow is a day invites are possibly going out again?

As someone who with a Preorder within first 24hours (at a fairly large Autonation dealer), I haven't heard anything from my dealer outside of a call that I placed to them. They indicated I was #73 in line, does that seem right? Should I be making any moves prior to 8/10 to improve my situation? I'm relatively lost in this process..

I preordered as fast as I could at the end and supposedly now 7/208. Dealer only got 4 for 22. They claim I should be getting an invite soon to order. I’m not holding my breath. I’ve been frustrated with the process. Fingers crossed.

Tomorrow is the 8th not the 9th and most dealers are closed Sunday

Day of reservation. Dealers says I’m #3 in line. Odds I can actually order this week?

That's why my wife and I both purchased 2022 Mustang Mach-Es this year. We can use the $15K tax credit and we're unlikely to qualify for a tax credit next year the way the Inflation Reduction Act is currently written.
