Laughing because I've been there. Just *don't* tell them you're from anywhere as populated as Albany..they get hostile!

Of course people can hate Albany for all sorts of reasons...
Heck I grew up there before moving to the "big city" (Albany area).

I just got a quote today for 60amp installation to the garage at $1,500.

Electrician will be providing me a 2nd option for 80amp, but material costs will be much higher, so he suggests settling for 60amp and save the money.

Plus he said 80amp won’t add value to the house versus 60 amp because only a Ford could even make use of the 80amp.

He thinks 60amps will be enough to still get a more than decent charge time, without going all the way to 80amp that might save 3 hours of charging time.

If you are the type that hangs decorative balls from the truck, you better be going 80A. Otherwise you will probably be fine with 60A.

I’ve SR
SR only has a single onboard charger (11kW) which translates to 48A charge max rate.

Anything more is a waste to get.

I have an SR Lariat and it charges quickly (less than a full night) with a 48A L2 charger in my garage.

I had to laugh at this. People think of NYS as being this metropolis and there are parts of upstate that are really, really backcountry (with lots of snow).

As a former Gov once said(not gonna mention his name)-- We got counties in NY with more cows than people
Hamilton county in NY is the least densely populated county of any state east of Mississippi. Only know because I'd live there😄.

I'm on that list, but I hate all politicians equally.

I've 80amp wire and breaker is ready to go.
Just for clarity - 80A of charging requires 100A wiring and a breaker to protect it. If you have 80A wiring, you can only charge at 64A due to continuous load rules... keeping it clear for everyone.

Took over a year for me to justify the lariat at 80k. A promotion and a raise later and I’m finally ready to take the plunge for them to jack up the price.

sigh…

If I just wait a couple of years prices will normalize and a 250 mile truck won’t keep its value like a 300 mile truck.

If I’m spending FU money, isn’t the Hummer the ultimate expression of that?

Its been well documented that Ford thought(their analysts thought) they could sell 10,000 Lightings per year. Then it was 40,000. Then 80,000, etc. Their pricing structure was based on those early predictions, as well as the market(competitors prices, cost of goods, etc).

No one expected 200k reservations and demand off the charts. No one at Ford anyways.
10,000?! Those people 100% should be fired. They're completely incompetent morons.

Even 40,000 or 80,000 are ridiculous estimates. They are just plain bad at their jobs.

The issue I have with Tesla is the "on the whim" price issues. With the Tesla system you could have agreed to a price and some day between the time you decide to purchase and delivery the price would go up. As a customer you have to pretty much take it.
That's not how Tesla works for current models. TONS of people have ordered Teslas over the last year or two and that locked in their price, so they ended up paying WAY less than the current price when it was delivered.

Now, that's how it works for the Cybertruck, the price is subject to change until you actually order, but apparently, that's true for the Lightning, too.

Private Offer value for extended reservations will not be available when ordering, but will only be available at the dealer level at pickup/purchase...
If that's true, will we not know what it is until delivery? That doesn't make me very optimistic about the size of the "Private Offer."

What is happening with fleet production? How does that group of buyers taking 5 Pros at a time justify their buys at the higher price? Will Ford be producing them anytime soon at quantity? Do businesses qualify for rebates? Have or will fleet orders interfere(d) with the build timing of single units?

The absolute cheapest Supercrew 4x4 gas F-150 is $43,450. Even without the tax credit, I think one could probably justify the Lightning Pro SR based on gas and maintenance savings, plus the charging in the bed, etc. With even just half the tax credit (assuming they don't get the battery material half), it's almost a no-brainer still, I would think.

XLT SR is up $6,500. This comes with heated seats and 10 extra miles of range. Heated seats are typically $500 per seat, if it's just the front that's $1,000 of extra value. The ER on the Lariat costs $11,000, so 10 extra miles of range is $1,200. These two features are something most people would happily pay for, I am incredibly jealous these aren't in my MY22. The heated seats which were hidden behind a $9,500 package, so the default package with heated seats is less expensive than last year.

Inflation is up 9% over the last year. That means in real value, a $4,800 increase is equal to the same price as last year. The two new features fill the gap in the difference, there's not a real price increase considering the dollar is worth less.

Now, if anyone who extended over gets a private offer discount, the value is even better. Plus, there's a chance the XLT SR will get a tax rebate, a few months ago it was assumed MY23 XLT SR would get none. If I was planning on getting an XLT SR, I'd be pretty ecstatic about how things turned out.

Here is the equation for calculating "constant" dollar:

Second Year Constant Dollar Value=FYDV×CPI2/CPI1
where:
FYDV=First year dollar value
CPI2=Consumer price index for second year
CPI1=Consumer price index for first year

Using the historical data from the US Bureau of Labor (https://www.bls.gov/cpi/tables/supplemental-files/historical-cpi-u-202207.pdf), here's what we get:

Since August data aren't released yet, we'll use July 2021-2022, which is 273.003 and 296.276, respectively. Recalculated values are:
XLT SR MSRP $52,974 x 296.276/273.003 = $57, 489.94
(my) Lariat ER as configured MSRP $78,809 x 296.276/273.003 = $85,527.32

We can check my work with the online inflation calculator BLS provides here: calculatorhttps://www.bls.gov/data/inflation_calculator.htm

Dear god my same build with options Lariat is now about 90K. Wow. 10k More.
My Smoked Quartz Lariat ER w/ Max Tow ($78,809) will be "worth" $85,527.32 in constant dollars. Of course, I'd assume the 2022s already had inflation factored into their pricing given it was already out of control by end of 2021.

EDIT: used the wrong numbers for relevant CPI data, which have now been corrected and recalculated in the post.
