You have to turn off the main breaker on your house electrical panel plus any heavy draw circuits

Make sure truck is off

HOOK up cords from truck to panel

Turn truck on. Turn 30 minute shut down off


I left it hook up for 45 Minutes TV’s, fridges, lights, garage door opener worked great

I did turn the house air conditioner on. The lights went dim while It started up.

I WOULD NOT LIKE TO SEE OR KNOW WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF SOMEBODY TURNED THE MASTER SWITCH ON WHEN THE TRUCK WAS HOOKED UP EXPRESSLY AFTER THE POWER CAME BACK ON.

Turn truck off. Disconnect the cord. Turn the breakers back on.

That's called a "suicide cord" for a reason.

This is VERY unsafe, illegal, and violates code and law.

DO NOT DO THIS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

Use a proper generator interlock and transfer switch (one that switches neutral).

The dangerous part about this is that if you or someone in your house did this and forgot to shut off the main breaker you could kill a lineman working on the lines, that's why you need an interlock or a transfer switch for these types of things.

The metal interlocks are cheap and effective. I had the electrician install one and a 30 amp generator plug. Unfortunately the bonded neutral issue is causing it to not work at all.

I can see why.

I would question the grounding in the extension cord. If your breaker panel has a bonded neutral/ground then there is a discontinuity somewhere for this to work.
