Ok - Mine didn't work again this morning - or so I thought. I had a message in Fordpass that the cabin temperature was ready, but it was 2 hours earlier than my planned departure time. Weird. I check the time and timezone settings in Fordpass and in the truck and everything looked fine. No idea why it decided to do it 2 hours early. If it does that again, I will remove everything and set it back up again to see if that resets anything.

Anyone else having issues with their Departure Time periodically not working? I set mine up last week, and this morning (and I think one other day) I came out to drive and the truck had not done any pre-conditioning. Double checked my settings in truck and they were correct, but it just didn't do it. Will continue monitoring but thought I'd check here too. Thanks
This has happened to me several times. I would agree that it is not often but it has happened on multiple occasions. I do not know the reason. However, yesterday I had another anomaly where I came out and instead of seeing the truck icon in the top left corner of the screen, I saw a Mustang Mach E. I was quite surprised by this as earlier that morning it had been a truck, and in the afternoon it was a Mustang. There were no software updates and I didn’t change any settings. Later that evening after I charged, the icon returned to being a truck. Either the programmers have some real gremlins in this software, or the AI features have become self aware and my truck is in the moody teenager stage of development sometimes refusing to do as it is told and experimenting with its preferred identity.

Same here, it didn’t work yesterday, worked today but steering wheel didn’t heat up.

Im sure it has something to do with software, these are things Ford should resolve quickly instead of improving the games available in the 15” screen.

They so close to making this truck almost perfect, the software is letting them down right now IMO

I’ve been preconditioning when plugged in as well as not plugged in. I feel like even without it plugged in the battery and motors will be closer to operating temperature rather than a cold start and driving away. Temps in the 40’s, I’m only losing a few miles of range preconditioning unplugged.

I agree though, makes sense to be doing it while plugged in whenever possible.
You may "feel" that the battery and motors are warmed when not plugged in, but in reality, they're not. You can use an OBDII connector and Car Scanner to monitor battery temps and see for yourself.

I would think that 'pre conditioning' has nothing to do with whether the vehicle is plugged in or not... pre conditioning is to turn on either heat or air conditioning, etc., to get it ready for you to use, comfortably, but not so much for the 'battery' conditioning... and should work just the same to 'pre condition' the cab for when you leave work, etc., when the truck would not be plugged in.

I think Tesla uses 'pre-conditioning' for the BATTERY when it knows you are close to arriving at a SUPERCHARGER, for better battery charging... which might be confused with 'cab' pre conditioning.
You'd be wrong. There are two features - Departure Time and Remote Start. When plugged in, Departure Time preconditions the battery and warms/cools the cabin. Remote Start only warms/cools the cabin. When not plugged in, Departure Time only warms/cools the cabin.

There is a setting that allows pre-conditioning even if the truck is not plugged in. I use it every day.
No, it allows Remote Start when not plugged in. Actually says "Remote Start".

Good thing too. Preconditioning in cold weather definitely helps efficiency -- at least that has been our experience with Tesla. Simply driving off with a cold battery impacts range more than anything else. So being able to pre-condition when not plugged in is huge.
Apples and Oranges. First, Tesla's have a heat pump, which at certain temps (i.e. above freezing) is more efficient than the Ford EVs. Below freezing, not so much. As stated above, a Departure Time on the truck, which is what preconditions the battery, works when the vehicle is plugged in.

What really makes this frustrating is that this system has worked perfectly in our Mach-e for almost a year. What did they change to break it!

To get rid of the confusion, they should call it "Scheduled Start" like they used to on the gas models.

Ford lives for confusion, as evidenced by the lack of specifics for features, as well as changing names after introducing features (ala BlueCruise now including more than just handsfree).

OP here:
This totally sucks. Well below freezing this morning, and no heat. Truck charged perfectly and all my settings are correct. I've been through this mutiple times. App and Sync. I hope Ford puts out a software update to fix this asap. Damn cold this morning!

I'd suggest you hit Remote Start 15 minutes before departure until this gets solved.

Respectfully, you are incorrect. This allows auto start while not plugged in.

It says "Allow start when vehicle is unplugged".

It does NOT mean that it's preconditioning the battery.

I invite you to plug in an OBDII adapter and use CarScanner and monitor the battery temp during a plugged into 240v EVSE Departure Time Session, and then unplug and do it on a similar day. Note the battery temp at start and finish, as well as the amount of energy used (from the wall in the first instance, and reduced from the battery in the second).

Rick, I understand what you are saying about the battery (and I am certain you are more knowledgeable about the specific operating parameters of the vehicle), but I was referring to cabin conditioning (which is what I understood the post to be referencing). Note the app states "You can also customize your cabin conditioning settings for each departure time."

Cabin conditioning with a departure time, or remote start, is identical. Departure time lets you schedule it. Remote Start you have to initiate.

+1 for preconditioning not warming cabin, I blame reading this thread as it's always worked previously /s. Ford app notification says your cabin is up to temperature, get in and it's cold AF.

@Ford Motor Company Please put this up the priority, temps are dropping daily.

Same for me again this morning. 2 days in a row now my Departure Time settings are not working. Confirmed to be set correctly in the app and in the truck, and yet, come out at 5:30 AM this morning to 30 degree temps and truck is ice cold and windshield covered in frost
