I’m commute over an hour and in the morning i have zero heat from the wheel, but on my way home I have heat all the way home.
Huh.

OK - new theory. The onboard computer sets a randomized number when it is first activated and that determines when and how long your heated steering wheel will work!
My theory is, somehow there is something that disables it that doesn't get reset or cleared until the truck does a full turn-off sleep mode. I have made multiple stops, locking the truck, but no wheel heat. Not until it sat for a solid couple hours at my last stop did it start working again for the way home.

Does your remote start use the grid, battery, or both? When I remote start with the truck plugged in, I'm consistently losing 2-3% from my target charge level.
You know, I never looked at my battery percentage when doing it while plugged in. And I didn't have a dedicated energy monitor on the FCSP until this morning. So I'll have to watch it next time I do it.

I noticed this issue this morning. It was the first time I preconditioned due to the low temps here in Massachusetts. When I first got in the truck, the cabin and steering wheel were warm. After 10-15 minutes I noticed the steering wheel was no longer heated. My hands were cold! I couldn't drive anymore.

I had another event this morning. I checked and made sure the cabin heat was set inside the truck. All the times were accurate. The Ap showed all good. Even my energy usage went up this morning. The ap also said cabin temp reached at 620 as scheduled. I heard the fans running when I unplugged. Ice cold. I'm sure this is a glitch as i just recieved update 3.5.4

I'm sort of an oddity in that I don't plug my truck in every night and only drive ~35mi a day. I will drive it down to around 20% and then plug in once and charge to 80-90%. Drive it about a week or so...rinse and repeat.

I do use the departure function so the heat is on and defrost running when I get in the truck in the morning and have it "running" when I approach the parking garage to depart work. My schedule is very stable-- leave same exact time each morning and evening.

All that said, my truck is hardly ever plugged in when it gets ready for departure. I have hated steering wheel active and warm both times, however I do notice it gets only lukewarm after about 15min and remains barely warm for the remainder of the drive., even though the switch remains on(red).

On my Buick I have to turn the heated wheel off or it will eventually be too hot. Lightning wheel def feels like it turns down(off) the heat after a set period of time.

Lightning steering wheel is barely heated..Like our bolt. Ford, please let the steering wheel get HOT if we desire. We can always turn it off if too warm.

My preconditioning dysfunctionality began after 3.5.4

Ford reached out and I’m scheduled to bring the truck in to further look into it. Again this morning, the wheel didn’t have heat using departure.

Hi Nathan! I can look into your Lightning's concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your Lightning's VIN?

I have noticed the same behavior. I suspect that the steering wheel issue is related to starting the truck before the preconditioning is complete - but my schedule is too random lately to determine whether it is just a random occurrence or if allowing preconditioning to complete will result in a working heated steering wheel.

Between days that preconditioning didn't happen (despite the schedule) and days that I left well after my scheduled Departure Time, it's hard to tell. The wheel heater has definitely NOT worked when I interrupted the preconditioning to depart early.

Happened to me first time this morning. I usually precondition without the plug and the wheel heats up fine, but this morning it was plugged in and the wheel was cold.

I wonder if a sync reboot would fix the wheel in these cases. It fixes wireless android auto not wanting to connect, maybe it would reset the wheel heat too. (volume down and next buttons for 10 sec)

Interesting.

So when you DO unplug and start the truck(begin your drive)...does the steering wheel heat up?

It did not, but the button said it was on.
