Interesting.

So when you DO unplug and start the truck(begin your drive)...does the steering wheel heat up?
From what I have learned on here, when doing a departure time while being unplugged is actually nothing more than a scheduled remote start. It conditions the cabin only using the remote start settings, and in this scenario my heated wheel is always warm.

When I do a plugged in precondition I get the same result as most people, wheel is cold.

Ford reached out and I’m scheduled to bring the truck in to further look into it. Again this morning, the wheel didn’t have heat using departure.
Good Luck! I’m pretty sure they are going to tell you everything is fine, or they will change the steering wheel and the problem will persist. @Ford Motor Company isn’t listening, unless they think every single truck needs to go to the dealer. BTW, no preconditioning today and steering wheel heated up nicely.

Best case scenario is there is a software update that hasn’t been pushed out to us but the dealer has it(doubt it)

I agree. I feel like I’ll be wasting my time. Today I didn’t use departure and nice and warm steering wheel. I’ve already done this once and got no results. I hope people keep posting in this thread about the issue l.

You're not wasting your time. In fact, you're helping everybody else. The more people that take their vehicles in, the more Ford will know there is a problem. If there isn't a fix by the time the wife and I go to Florida early next year, I'm going to make an appointment for this and leave it with them for a week.

Mine doesn't either no matter how many times I toggle it on/off through the screen. It won't heat again until i've parked the truck for a while and started another drive.

You’re exactly right. Exactly what I’m experiencing as well. Only when I use departure.

I set a departure time for this morning with the cabin temp set to medium. When I got in the truck it was cold, neither the steering wheel or seat was warm. However the steering wheel did come on when I manually turned it on.
What did I do wrong that none of the warming actions took place? Is there any way to know if the battery was preconditioning?

Don't bother with the dealer, this is a software issue and being reworked

Agree that it is a software issue the dealer can't do anything with. We have no idea that Ford is doing, or planning to do, anything about it though.

But he might have a lead on what others are in fact doing, we just need to wait for the DEV process to complete on this and a laundry list of other quirks we've observed0

I made this post in the cold weather thread. Thought I would share it here too since it keeps the steering wheel heat on while "preconditioning" your truck:

Remote start the truck while plugged in. It will heat the cabin and draw power from your EVSE to keep you battery charged. It must also help the battery warm up because my range increased from the time I remote started to the time I left. And my heated wheel worked after I unplugged.

This is the screenshot of when I remote started while plugged in. What's interesting is it never gave me a time limit saying how long it would run, and the "extend" button didn't give the "+15" limit. I never tested how long it would run, but I'm guessing more that the standard 15 minutes.

I tried it twice. Once with my FCSP set at 32 amps and 80 amps. Both kept the battery fully charged to my 90% limit.

What was interesting is on the 32A limit, it pulled the full 32A until I unplugged. On the 80A limit, it pulled the full 80A to a point, then bounced at a lower setting. I can only screenshot so much data, but you can get the idea from what's displayed.

Add me to to the party. Set a departure time. Was late leaving, but I could tell the wheel heat had been on. It stayed off for a 100 mile drive. I even stopped, turned the truck off, got out, and locked it. No joy for the wheel heat coming back on. I suspect that it will work when I drive it in about 10 hours.

I wouldn't hold your breath. People on the Mach-E site have been complaining about stuff since it launched. Very little has been addressed.
