Just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar. I had my truck (2023 Lariat ER) parked on the hill in my driveway while I snow blowed the parking spots. The truck was in park, parking brake was on and the truck either rolled or slid backwards down the hill. The good news is it was stopped from going to far by running into my girlfriend's car that was parked behind it 🙄 I have done the same thing for the last four years we have lived at this house, with four other trucks, a 2019 Chevy 1500, a 2021 GMC 1500, a 2022 Tacoma, and a 2020 RAM 1500 and have never had anything like this happen before. Wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar. Yes I am sure the truck was in park (I had put the shift handle down into the center console, which can only be done in park) and it automatically engaged the parking brake because it was on the hill. It was probably about 10-15 minutes after I parked that the truck slid into her car.

Yes, others have had this happen, due to ice building up under the tires. Beyond setting the parking brake, as you did, or chocking the wheels, there is little you can do to stop it.

Is this something specific to the way the "park" works on the electric motors as it doesn't have a park in transmission?

Salt & sand the space on the hill you are parking the truck.

Had that happen to a Suburban. Luckily an Excursion was parked two foot away to stop it.

It just seems odd to me that I've done this same thing many times over the years with plenty of other vehicles and none of them have ever moved, and the first time I do it with this truck it decides to slide.

The General all-season tires aren’t very good on ice. Might be a contributing factor?

I have the upgraded all terrain, but definitely still not a very aggressive tire, so maybe part of it

Perhaps the additional 35% weight increase is a factor also???

My Mazda did it in 1994.

Consider gas vehicles might have enough latent heat to melt ice under the vehicle depending on how recently they were driven. It's been a while since I've seen snow, but my old crown Victoria used to keep spots clear after a drive with that massive iron v8 radiating heat.

When in park, there's a pawl that slaps itself right into the motor. Your wheels did not turn- the truck slid on ice.
Why did his other trucks never do this? As Rick said others have had the same issue. There must be something happening here that is different

My Wrangler was famous for this on all-terrain tires. I was out delivering meals one day in snowy weather and came out of the house to find it sitting in the road and people going around it LOL.
