I just realized that my Clean Air Vehicle carpool lane stickers were missing from my truck. I had them in the pocket in the driver side door on magnets to slap on my bumpers when I needed them. The only time anyone has been in my truck was when I had that lightbar replaced by the dealership. I'll be calling them tomorrow to let them know they have a thief on staff. Don't think I'll be getting them back. So bummed.

UPDATE: I talked to the service manager, and he said to call the DMV for replacements. Not sure what I expected, but his lack of concern definitely forces me to switch to another dealership. Stay away from Villa Ford in Orange if you don't want your personal belongings stolen during service.

Electrical Engineer - I do power grid studies and program the equipment that runs it.
Had my appointment today to get the light bar looked at and part ordered...dealer said they aren't back ordered and sitting in a warehouse in Memphis. Should have one in a week. A nearby competing dealer has one but refused to sell to the dealer performing the service. Funny that the dealer I bought the truck from is the one that has the part so I could make a call if needed and likely have it now if issues getting one from Ford.

Dug into the tailgate and pulled the wire for the light bar to stop the white lights flickering and the potential for the red lights to go crazy while driving. I didn't see any water intrusion inside the tailgate (tracking in the dust). I think it is just coming in via the seal on the plastic bar. Definitely will have to pop off the tailgate cap and the painted part above the light bar - see photos. Should be able to just replace the push pins after removing.

Edit: Looks like there are blue "vents" along the length of the light bar inside the tailgate. One of several was blocked via the bed coating process...but still doesn't seem to be the source of the leak.

Top cap pops off when removing these push pins.

Pull this plug (pull out white tab and then squeeze top to release)

Top cap and painted part likely need to be removed.

A few days ago, I noticed a buildup of water, and today, the white LED section stopped functioning while the entire red section flashes sporadically. The dealership has requested to see the truck before they can order the part.

My story is basically the same as what others have shared here, but I just wanted to add my experience so that someone from Ford may be made aware of the number of issues with the lightbar.

Good morning! I would like to assist with your concern on my end. Can you send over a DM with your VIN and Ford dealer info?

Add me to the list of people having this issue. Had it at the dealer today to fix a flat (not cool!) And they said that Ford actually has a service bulletin out about it. They're gonna replace the entire light bar assembly once the part gets in. My issue was isolated to the reverse lights which flickered. It was actually kinda funny. Noticed a few people who I think thought I was a cop in an unmarked car 🤣

Is the fix expected to be a permanent one or does the replacement part still have this issue?

i was waiting for all the rain to subside in CA before making my appointment as I really don’t want to have to get the lights replaced again so soon.

Same here. Water in the lights and one side randomly flickers. Definitely not safe when driving. My dealer doesn’t have an appointment available till 3/31.

Hi there! I can look into your Lightning's leak concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your Lightning's VIN?

Has this caused anyone else to have issues with their cameras working properly? I've had intermittent issues a few times with them and I thought a software update had fixed them for good, but no dice. The camera either stops working all together or is extremely fuzzy. It started again last week after it snowed out, fixed itself for a few days and then happened again after I took it to the car wash this past Saturday. I remembered this thread and sure enough, noticed what looked like condensation inside the light that goes across the tailgate. However, I haven't noticed any of my rear lights flickering. Thoughts?

Safe bet to assume that if you’re getting moisture, it’s likely affecting the camera. I’d take it in and have the bar replaced for the moisture alone.

After some rain last week, I decided to look at my lightbar... sure enough there was moisture. I reached out to my dealer to see what can be done.

Does anyone have the service bulletin number that I could use as a reference?
