I called 1-800-392-3673 and spoke with someone from the BEV team who created a case number.

I did that already. But the person handling my case doesn't have the ability to help with anything.

The response from @Ford Motor Company was keep working with the service manager at the dealership. NO HELP AT ALL. I have a bad feeling that I need to start looking for an attorney.

I seen on a different forum some hybrid were getting the same error have going through a car wash. It happened to me yesterday, and I did get a car wash earlier that day. Could be a coincidence.

I was doing frequent car washes due to all the snow, salt and sand but not the day I got the error. If the truck can’t handle a car wash Ford has much bigger problems.

I was just cold called by Ford looking to proactively open a case and to get my truck scheduled to be serviced by a dealer to look into this known issue. He was completely unaware that I already have an open case and that my truck has been at my dealer’s service department for three weeks

Well, add me to the list of folks with this issue. I got the Powertrain Malfunction warning light when I started up the truck shortly after driving about 50 miles. I turned the truck back off and then on, and the light was gone. I drove it home with no issues, but I made a service appointment for Friday anyways.

Open a case with Ford before going to the dealer, and familiarize yourself with your state's lemon law, Ford would instead offer you a buyback then deal with your state's AG office. You have rights.

@Beezelbubba I am waiting for my buyback offer from Ford. If you don't mind can you share your experience in that process? My truck was three and a half months old when this all started but I put on 8,000 miles in that time and I'm afraid I'm going to be losing money on a buyback if I don't file with my state lemon law.

You will have to file with your state to get the sales tax back. Once Ford approves it, it will go to a buyback specialist, they will need you to send in info on your loan, payment history, receipts for anything you may have bought for the truck and a buyout letter from your lender. Once you return all that it needs to get approval, then it needs to go to audit. After that they will schedule a time for you to go to your dealer to sign the truck away and get any monies due.

Luckily my state doesn't have sales tax. Do they pay you exactly what you paid for the truck or is there any deduction for mileage? The service manager at the dealer where my truck is now was encouraging me to go for a buyback but goes "'I've been with Ford for 30 years and trust me you're going to lose money. You lost money when you drove the truck off the lot"

milage after a point, I had 6k on the clock and lost nothing. Ford can either cut you a check, or you can go through your state's AG office and then they can cut you AND your attorney a check depending on your state's lemon law. You do not have to accept their offer an you can consult your attorney.
