Did the updates this morning but couldn't get the DSP to go away even after a PMI (as suggested by my local Ford senior tech). In fact the DSP update doesn't even bother to try to replace the software, it apparently thinks the correct version is already installed and just pretty much jumps to the configuration phase of the process. You can see in the session log where I tried to do the PMI, and then tried without success to re-do the updates again. Still no joy.

On the upside the other modules; PCM, BECM, and FHCM, went without a hitch.

@Mike G do you know if your vehicle has taken PU0306-BCF-DET through FDRS?

Since I performed FDRS updates earlier this year, I’ve received OTAs without issue until this new update PU0306-BCF-DET that continues to fail no matter what I try. I’m considering getting a 48 hour license to push it myself if it’s available.
I just did a PCM and BEMC update the other day. I'm guessing that's what those OTAs would have equated to. I've sent you a DM with your list for today.

I have know idea if this is the right thread but I don’t know where else on the site to try to find someone to help. I have a 2023 Lightning Lariat extended range which I recived at the end of January 2023. I have been getting OTAs until the most recent one that I am aware of. Approximately the last 3 or 4 weeks Ford has attempted to conduct Priority Update
23-PU0105-DC-CHG2 every night other than Sunday at 11 pm but it fails. I have attempted everthing I can think of making sure to turn off lights, set parking brake, taking extensive drives then trying to immediately update. I even took off the 12 v battery for a few minutes and then hooked it up again and went through the process again but the OTA continues to fail. My VIN is 1FTVW1EV0PWG06095. Thank you for any help.

When I changed my scheduled update time from 11pm to 10am I started getting my OTAs with more regularity and fewer fails. I suspect it is the result of having higher cell phone and wifi signal strengths at work, as well as a higher 12v battery after driving.

Have you tried the BMS reset?

but what is BMS reset and how will it help? Also just got off phone with Ford and was told that the 12v battery is too low for update. Not sure why since I’ve kept the truck plugged into our Ford garage 48 amp charger and have been driving it regularly. Thanks again for your help!

as someone who had tough time with updates. Failed over 60 times, 5 trips and 55 days at dealer and they still sent me home with an install error - telling me “error will just go away and OTA’s will come. Gave it another 45 days. Nothing.

ford did replace the 12v battery.
my error after 60+ fails makes my situation a little different.
⭐what ultimately worked was doing the updates myself with truck interface and 2 day fdrs license.

I just received the last 2 ota’s without problem. Including the one you referenced.

note: some dealers are resistant/reluctant to do updates since they seem to have some resistance from ford for warranty reimbursement.

I don’t remember the exact steps, maybe someone will chime in here, BUT it was recommended to disconnect or remove 12v from truck charge it full then connect to truck. I don’t remember if they recommend another step, such as BMS reset.

PRO TIP: use the search function too - search Bms reset you’ll find those steps. It’s easy, I just don’t remember steps.

also fords tips don’t seem to help anyone. But many of us have had the 12v low SOC error.

I did a post on this a while back. I was able to get OTAs to work after disconnecting the 12V, charging it to full, reconnecting, and then doing the BMS reset. However, I tried this again with a recent update and it did not work. I knew that 23-PU0105-DC-CHG was coming so I charged it overnight and did a reset. The first attempt failed so I tried again with the key fobs faradayed and it failed a second time. Then I drove it for about 40 minutes and got to 83%. I shut it down, set the brake, turned off the lights, locked the doors, and put the keys back in the faraday bag. The update started 90 seconds later and it failed a third time. I posted something on twitter and a Ford comm person asked for my VIN and told me they passed it along to engineering. She later responded that I had not met the prerequisites (but couldn’t tell me which one) and that the update would be resent. It has now disappeared and no updates are available now. That was a week ago.

I‘m pretty sure my 12V battery is bad. The dealer tested it and said it is OK so I can’t get it replaced. I’m debating spending my own money to get a new battery but the thought just pisses me off. I really love this truck but this is the first thing that has made me think about getting rid of it.

Resetting the BMS learned values is a good thing to do anytime you replace the battery, or disconnect the battery for some reason. In fact for all those folks who were disconnecting the 12V battery to try to fix their OTA download problem, they may have actually created a different problem as a result, due to the fact that their 12V battery wasn't fully charging after it was reconnected (if the BMS learned values weren't reset first).

So I've covered why you would do this, and so here's the procedure:

Before your next drive:
Press the start button without stepping on the brake.
Flash the highbeams with the stalk 5 times, and then step on the brake pedal 3 times, and after that check the red battery icon on the instrument panel to see that it flashes like three times. And then shut the ignition off. And then you can turn the truck fully on and drive off. Your 12V battery should then fully recharge (if it wasn't doing that before).

I've posted the BMS learned values reset procedure to ensure your 12V battery is fully recharging when you drive. That should mitigate the low 12V battery problem you were having with OTAs not processing.

If you are also having problems with your preconditioning not working the attached TSB should be of some interest to you since it would provide your dealer tech the necessary procedural path to getting most of these updates done on Ford's dime (under warranty).

Well that "in-process" OTA is likely gonna be on your Check Updates page for a while if you've already done all the updates with FDRS.

I'd call the service advisor and find out what module(s) that OTA was supposed to be updating (have them look at your OTA dashboard). If you updated that same module during your FDRS session...problem solved. It does mean that it will probably show that OTA in the same status on your Check Updates page in Sync until it "expires" from your OTA Dashboard list though.

The naming designation on these OTAs now is making it harder to figure out just what it updated.
