“This Trip” not resetting after shutting down.

I’m noticing that “this trip” isn‘t resetting every time I shut the truck off. There’s also no way to manually reset it. Has anyone else noticed this or found the reason/solution?

Yes. There is an OTA that will fix it.

I don’t recall the update number, but apparently you have yet to receive it.

until the software gets updated, you can force the trip meter to reset at the end of your trips by holding the the brake when you power down the truck.

I don’t know why, but that works. Shouldn’t I have gotten the update by now? Ive had my truck since June 20th and haven’t gotten any updates.

Was your truck a special order, or retail spec build off the dealers lot, or a demo model?
Was the window sticker base color blue or green?

Not necessarily. Seems there is a ‘pecking’ order to how and when they come down. It’s really hard to say when or what might have been loaded before you picked the truck.

The dealer’s service department can look remotely and see what is waiting to be loaded and if you have some that have failed. (Not all dealers are willing to take the time to do so, but some will). Good luck.

It was ordered by someone else who didn’t end up taking it but it does say special order on the window sticker which is green.

That's good to see, so there should be updates coming at some point, don't see any reason they aren't coming, make sure you have enabled automatic updates for everyday of the week, the defaut time is 0100 hrs local, but you can tweak the hour based on your scheduled non-drive time frame.

If you run into issues turning on automatic updates, see the dealer, in the event the truck had been previously enrolled in fleet-demo operation before you bought it, they need to un-enroll to restore auto updates selection.

My 2022 did not reset This Trip, and had all the OTA Ford would send nightly. Most of the time but not always.

Just got my 2023 and This Trip does not reset every time, no updates yet. You would think in 11 months Ford would have figured this out?

you have to have your foot on the brake when you shut the motor off, then it'll reset the "this trip" numbers. It's stupid, but I had that problem and this solved it. I also haven't gotten a single OTA update since I got my truck in June. Also stupid...

Holding the brake down was not fool proof for me. I did receive the update that fixed it and haven't had a problem since.

On the topic of voodoo to get your updates, I can't say for sure but I started getting mine after changing my update time. Can't hurt and only takes a minute of your time.

This has worked for me as well, I'm wondering if the FoMoCo updates server is inundated at 0100 Local Standard Time? I'm going to 0500 hrs, this puts' it past peak demand in the ET, CT, MT & PT zones.

I thought the time setting was the time to start the installation, not download?

This is true, but maybe it has an influence on when the downloads trigger as well, I'm grasping at ways to improve downloading, are all FMC products programmed to ping the mothership at a common time? I have no idea.
