I saw @Ford Motor Company post a tip on how to enable Auto-folding mirrors once the car is locked. This is a nice feature, but I'd really love to see the ability to auto-fold mirrors based on GPS. My Tesla has had this feature for quite some time which helps tremendously when backing the car into a narrow garage opening. With the Lightning being an even wider vehicle, this feature would be even more valuable.

At least I will be able to fold the mirrors via a button, but it would be nice to have this automatically done for me when I'm in the perimeter of my residence.

Just my $.02.

They only posted that "pro-tip" because their last amateur OTA update turned it off.
I don't use the auto-fold mirrors, BUT the amateur OTA before the one that turned auto-fold off turned mine on; so to me they were fixing their first screwup . . .

I don't know if the FordPass API has a command to fold the mirrors, but if it did then it might be possible through a 3rd party Home Assistant solution. There is currently a Home Assistant integration project (link below) that gives you info straight from the FordPass API that you don't currently see in the FordPass app (12v battery SOC, Window up/down status, etc). One of our members here is helping on that project and making some great progress. If it was possible and coded into the API, you could theoretically setup a mirror folding Home Assitant routine based on GPS. It's probably more work than most people would want to do, but you can always request the folding mirrors feature be added to that Github project.

That same member is also working on his own app called LightningRod which you can read about in the LightningRod Thread

I'd love this feature too, I manually control my mirrors for the same reason.

If you have big wing mirrors for towing it might be somewhat useful but the little lightning mirrors don't really need to auto fold. In fact, it's a terrible idea to auto fold these mirrors, even a little bit of ice buildup on the window sill is enough to crunch them.

I don't use the auto-fold mirrors because they will break in the winter when the weather turns to crap for those of us in the North. I'd like to see a Global on/off switch for this. Currently, Ford does it at the driver profile level which means you have to turn it off on every profile to have it stay off. Ice is not a friend to auto-fold mirrors. Manually pressing the button is ok when you need to get into tight spaces or otherwise want to protect your mirrors, but especially in the winter, I want to decide myself before folding and breaking something.

I've never had a problem, but then my truck spends plenty of time in the garage, I've had occasion to be in nasty icy weather.

They worked just fine and need to because of the narrow clearance to get my truck in and allow enough space for my wife to get her vehicle in and out safely, I need to leave her enough door to door clearance between the truck and car.

Does Tesla have a physical button to fold the mirrors? If not, I can see why this "feature" is useful in a Tesla.

Tesla has almost zero physical buttons. At first they only had auto-fold on locking the doors, but then they added the GPS feature.

Yes, not at all needed. Press the button when ready.
You can say the same about many features. If you have the capability, then why not implement it? If some people don't use it, fine, but it may be useful to others.

Of all the features I’d like this truck to have, this is pretty far down on the list.
Agreed. There are many features I'd like to see ahead of this. Just wanted to chime in regarding the post from @Ford Motor Company since they mentioned auto-folding mirrors.

You can say the same thing about a button. It's a design choice with cost implications.

I'll give you another example of design choice with cost implications. On Platinums with massaging seats any time anyone touches the lumbar/massaging buttons the seat adjustment screen appears and never disappears. Ford could program the screen to time-out after 10 or 15 seconds but they don't because like six people care about this and it would cost some amount of money to implement it.
