Lithium prices are high! Bad news for EVs, they will never be affordable.
Lithium prices are low! Bad news for EVs, nobody will mine lithium.
Lithium prices are stagnant! Bad news for EVs, nobody is buying them.

Long term planning, few like Mobil have the stomach to sink money in mines & plants to prepare for the next cycle of demand.

You gotta feel for these guys, they come up with a plan, and it doesn't work for multiple reasons. Come up with a new plan, and it doesn't work for different reasons.

Don't know if the IRA had mining in it, it should have...

I'm not sure I would invest in Lithium mines at the moment. The battery landscape is shifting pretty quickly. If you can muddle through the next five years in the EV space without sinking billions into infrastructure, I think you might come out ahead in the end.

Less than five years vs five years or more to go!!

@MickeyAO has discussed this phenomena in the scientific community working on new developments, striving to get some new wiz-bang tech to a reliable status and then produced at scale.

I'm not even going to give them the click.

Sounds like the same bs that petro corps use to justify raising their fuel prices. Too much oil, not enough oil, oil price high, oil price low, all equals gas price increase.

Are batteries too cheap to produce now?

I guess the metal markets have to get their buy/sell hype amped up?

The article is kind of economic non-sense to me.
It is always supply and demand.

The problem as I see it isn't lower Li prices, it is sky-high EV prices, which killed demand.
To some extent that is the fault of a bunch of greedy *&%'s running the companies making the EVs.

So the obvious solution is:

Give people an EV they can afford.
Design and build lower priced EV's.
Then demand for EVs will take off.
Then lithium demand will as well
Then mines will open/reopen.
Then everyone will be happy (?) and live happily ever after.
The end.

I would invest in trash (to be honest, I have).
