I live in an area with absurdly high EV market shares, a "semi-rural" suburb in the SF Bay Area, but in my town of about 20,000 I know of one other Lightning for sure and may have seen one more. Rivians, on the other hand, are a common new car, not as common as the Model 3 or Y, of course, bit they're pretty common. It was unusual when I was stopped at a light with a Rivian in the left-turn lane next to me & another Rivian on the cross street also waiting for the light, but it wasn't exactly surprising. Are you in a Lightning desert? Or do you see us all around you?
I live in a small town that acts as a business and retail center for a larger rural area that includes a few villages/smaller towns. With only a few thousand residents in the town, I expected to be the lone electric pickup in the area. But nope! I am now aware of at least 5 of us in the local community. Kick in a couple of Rivians and probably soon a few Cybertrucks and we have a healthy community of electric high-riders. What is it like where you live?
Also, if you see a Lightning come along, do you acknowledge it? A light flick? A subtle wave? Or do you rip along with nary a nod?
There are several around here in the Sacramento area. It's gotten to the point that I see at least one every day I'm out on the road. As for the wave, I get waves, nods and the occasional finger pointing with a smile of recognition when someone sees one of their own. I also get some great reactions to folks in the ICE vehicles or other EVs when they realize I'm in a Lightning.
I had to laugh a little at the comment about Teslas. They are truly everywhere these days. But I also have to give a nod to the sheer number of EVs around here. I've lost count how many times I'm sitting at an intersection and there would be 5-10 EV's at the intersection.
Jesus, that's not a ton more than I paid for my Pro.I live in southern Ontatio Canada, I'm seeing more Lightnings on dealer lots than on the road. In fact the nearest dealer to me, has a 2022 Lairat on sale for $84K ($61K US).
I would have to second this. I just spent 3 days in San Diego, just a get away weekend. The sheer number of Tesla's on the road was mind blowing. I thought we had quite a few here in Dallas, but nothing in comparison. I don't care where you were or where you looked, EVERY time I looked there was at least one or two Tesla's at the light, in a lane around me, in the parking lot. Everywhere. In Southern California, Orange County where I am, I maybe see one every couple weeks. And Teslas are almost every 4th or 5th car.
I guess you needed to come further north like Carlsbad area . On my street of 12 houses there are 5 Teslas (including us) and 2 all EV households (including us). No other Lightnings yet.I would have to second this. I just spent 3 days in San Diego, just a get away weekend. The sheer number of Tesla's on the road was mind blowing. Rivian's, I saw a handful, saw a few Kia's, a few other brands.
However, not ONE Lightning - anywhere. Not even on the Ford dealer lot that I could see near Pacific Beach.
I also have a new resolve, never ever again (Unless truly cost prohibitive) will I rent an ICE vehicle. I miss the Tesla and Lightning and the sluggish horrible drive experience I had in a Camry and a Kia Sportage took so much away from just having a good time away. I'll never look back at spending a 30 to 40% premium if needed to drive a Tesla on vacation.
How is the public charging infrastructure on the island?Victoria B.C Canada here, I see multiple Lightnings daily now. City Police have several now in their fleet. Municipality park fleet has a few now to. Other night was out Christmas shopping at a mall, fellow lightning parked in front of me. Lightnings are very common here now. Greater Victoria has a very mild climate on the west coast compared to the rest of Canada and not alot of long driving local distances so its the perfect combo for EV's here and there are a ton of EV's and growing every month replacing ICE. Some days it sure feels like half the vehicles here are now EV's...
