I’m going to need a

“My commuter is a Tesla” decal to put on the back window maybe it’ll lessen the butt hurt of Tesla owners when they see me Charging this beast…

I’m glad to see we’re making progress toward getting access to the Tesla network and free is a good price but I’m not sure how much it’s going to help me. Looking at the Tesla map and eliminating the V2s that won’t work for us I only find 2 locations that will make my life any easier. Hopefully Tesla will upgrade some of the older sites, especially those in more rural areas.

Tesla is expanding rapidly so it should eventually be helpful.

Be careful, maybe ours will ship from SunRun.
Sadly I am more concerned it will be sequentially based on VIN number being entered into the OTA system…..still waiting on that first update. Heard 2024 will be a good year, or maybe 2025☹😂🤣

IMHO, the process should be (speculation):

  • We use FORD.COM / Ford Pass.
  • Indicate which of our qualifying vehicle we would like an adapter be mailed for.
  • Delivery will be fIrst come, first served.

Some folks might opt out or not want to wait for the free adapter and continue with an approved device already secured or soon to be delivered.

I plan to order it just to have it as a backup, though not likely to need it much for my local travels and charging pattern, I will pass it forward when I sell or trade in my Lightning.

Let's not get too excited about the free part yet folks.

It might just be paid for through a "special Ford Network" price of $ 1.50/kWh.
@PrivateJoker

didn’t Farley ‘s release mention ford pass or other “third party” charging app? Then it would tesla setting the charge rate.

I'm not expecting it to be cheap, it will be like buying gas in a tourist area. It is quite expensive but beats the heck out of pushing the car. The fact that it exists makes the trip much less anxious. You don't have to fill up all the time, any unused electrons that you bring home to your garage are simply a waste of money - although fortunately even expensive electricity is still pretty cheap compared to food these days.

@Ford Motor Company Good on you! thank you.

I will take a big "L" on this one. I was wrong.

I put the odds at way less than 5% we would get one for free. Farley's clumsy speaking cost him on this one. Good on him by turning it into good "PR".

Now hopefully I am wrong... but my guess is we dont have these things in our hands until Q3 or Q4.
Also, Yes, thank you for asking. I am a naturally pessimistic person!
It was mentioned from Tesla's Design Manager for Charging Infrastructure that the network opens up to Ford in February.

Hopefully, Ford and/or Tesla, have had these in production for awhile and they can get them out in batches quickly.

Can someone remind me how we tell V2 from V3/4 on the Tesla DCFC map?

While I’m excited about this announcement, I’m going to you all test it out first. That looks like a metal release tab on the NACS side….

The A2Z Adapter looks much better than this one. Will it work? (hopefully)
