Connecting an electric jack or winch

I'm hoping to electrify the winch and jack for my boat trailer and do so through the truck. Has anyone been able to connect to the 12v system in the rear? Or have other ideas?

I assume you can tap into the tail lights on a four pin connector or the aux power on a seven pin connector. I've never done that but it seems like it would work.

Highly unlikely either of those circuits can supply enough current to power a winch.

Do you have pro power? I just use a 120V AC winch instead of a 12V DC.

A tip I give now and then - remember your truck is just like an F-150 in many regards (except the size of the 12v battery).

In this case, the feeds at the rear of the vehicle are the same, and this question has probably been asked dozens of times on an F-150 forum, in addition to "can I charge my travel trailer batteries while driving"?

One thing to note, the power supplied to a trailer comes while towing, now while parked, so people have to run an extension cord to the trailer just to keep the 12v charged while parked.

You might consider old school solution. Affix a 12v auto battery in a box on the trailer. Keep it charged /maintained thru the 7 pin live 12v connection. A lot of commercial trailers with 12v jacks are set up like that.
