Going to go on a test drive next week, my dealer finally has their demo model. I'll make sure to test out the button when I do.

Please don't encourage Ford to remove functionality that others may find useful when used correctly. I like how easy it is to engage cruise. And there are use cases for setting cruise at 20 mph, I have one.

It was always kind of stupid to have to press two buttons to turn cruise on for when you're driving and I like that Ford recognizes that (probably stole it from Tesla IDK). Yes it surprised me the first time I pressed the button but I rather like it now. If you want them to change functionality make it an option and not apply to everyone ("Two-button cruise").

EDIT: And i like the button placement. Two most used features are cruise on/off and Volume. Both are an easy thumb press if you are driving with two hands on the wheel and not your palms :).
I have to agree. I used cruise today for the first time and was pleasantly surprised and impressed I didn’t have to hit multiple buttons

We all have different driving styles and don't want anything dangerous, but I haven't had a problem in 7 months. Anything can happen though. When turning I typically use a finger hooked into the wheel. It's just my style.

This is how I turn forklifts.

I am having trouble re-engaging cruise control after touching the brakes. I hit the cruise on/off button instead of remembering to hit the small cancel/reset button. Seems the on/off would be better as a resume/cancel button for me.

I was pulling into parking spot and the truck lunged forward and I had to hit the brake, looked down and cruise was activated so I think I hit the button accidentally. Very dangerous only happen one time although I have accedentaly hit the button while turning.
Happened twice with me. Third time my wife was driving and she a fence, not sure if she accidentally pressed the button or accidentally pressed accelerator I suspect she accidentally pressed the cruise buttom because i have seen it happening twice with me but i was able to press brake immediately. This button is very dangerous needs to be fixed

Keep in mind that unless you already have cruise turned on but disengaged and it‘s set to a higher speed, accidentally hitting the “Activate” (left) button will only engage at current speed - not accelerate.
If it was already on, accidentally hitting the left button simply turns it off. In this state, you would have to accidentally hit “Resume” to cause unexpected acceleration.

I like everything about the cruise control switch location and activation.

I just had my cruise control activate while stopped. When it occurred, I had NOT touched the steering wheel.
I entered the vehicle, pressed start, shifted to reverse, backed up 10 feet, shifted to drive, and cruise came on at 15mph. This was done with no contact with the steering wheel at any time.

I have had it happen 4 prior times but those may have been me brushing the cruise button. This time, I had not touched the steering wheel.

If they changed it so it will only activate when the steering wheel is (almost) straight ahead that could solve the problem of palming the button during turns, while still leaving the super convenient one touch activation.

You're just going backwards and forwards without turning at all? Seems odd, but I'm sure you had a reason. I wonder if you can try to replicate this over and over, I can't believe it's entirely random, but maybe some sort of bug in response to pedal inputs? a weird timing bug related to shifting? Are you using 1PD? The only way we're going to get Ford to fix this is with reliable steps to reproduce the error.

I've had this issue in my Mach-E and Lightning, too. It's partially user-error and partially button design/function. Should I not be palming the wheel when turning? I guess so? But sometimes I'm just making slight turns with my hands at 10-and-2 and it will hit the button.

The button is really big and in a not-so-great spot, in my opinion. Our old Hyundai used to have CC turn on with one button but then not engage until you hit "Set".

I was using one pedal mode. As far as the movement pattern, that is why I know I did not touch the steering wheel when the cruise engaged. I merely backed up to allow a larger vehicle to move safely and then moved back to where I was parked. I have had other instances where the cruise has engaged unintentionally, but I couldn't say they occurred without input. This time, I was able to verify the cruise engaged without input.

I’ve never been a fan of cruise control buttons on the steering wheel. Mercedes-Benz figured this out in the 60’s using a second stalk on the steering column above the turn signal stalk. It’s my favourite solution out of all the car companies: no looking for a button, no accidental pushes, no turning on the cruise before turning on the cruise. Recently, on newer cars they relocated it below the turn signal stalk, which I do not like. So, no more Mercedes for me.
