Home Intelligent System—trouble activating

I have the Ford Home Intelligent System backup power system installed, but I have been unable to activate it.

I hired a master electrician to install the system. When I try to activate it using the in-truck screen, I get to the step where the screen posts a PIN and asks if it matches the PIN on the Ford Charge Station Pro—I assume this means the app.

But there’s no PIN showing up on the app. I tried just clicking “yes,” but it then shows “pairing unsuccessful.”

The very kind Ford person tried helping me, but to no avail. They suggested I call Sunrun—which hasn’t helped yet, as I can’t get transferred to the right department.

Any *helpful* (i.e., not “Sucks to be you/why’d you buy the system/you’re SOL”) suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If everything else is working right hardware wise and the truck software is hung up you could try to reset the sync system by holding the two outside steering wheel buttons, far left and far right, for like 10 seconds.

I feel like I had a similar problem repairing mine after FCSP replacement and that was all I needed to do to fix the pairing issue.

Is the trucks modem working? I had similar issue when the modem was locked up. What are the icons showing on the main screen of the truck?

What's the best way to determine if the truck's modem is working properly?

Can I play a YouTube video on Wi-Fi? Does Bluetooth phone as a key work? Do these functions use the same modem as the Bluetooth for the HIS?

Are you going through the same steps in the app at the same time? I believe you have to do it in the truck and the charge station pro app together.

Are you going through the same steps in the app at the same time? I believe you have to do it in the truck and the charge station pro app together.
Yes, but apparently the BDI was incorrectly installed, as none of the lights on the cover are blinking or illuminates.

That is still a separate issue. The BDI has nothing to do with being able to pair the truck with the charge station pro.

That being said is the breaker to the inverter turned on? I know it sounds silly, but the BDI being completely off indicates that there is no power having ever been on, or it was in off-grid mode and the dark start battery ran out of juice.

Do you have any pictures of the installation you can share? That is always much more helpful.
Hopefully your electrician took pictures of each component with the covers off.

Unfortunately, none with cover off. GC may be coming by this week & I’ll ask him to take the covers off so I can take and post pictures.

The Ford person I talked to advised doing the modem reset I think you mentioned. Did that 2x & still not working to pair it. Will post pics next time I try it.

I have had these same problems with my back up charging system for 2 years now. Ford says that if some day, somehow they figure out what the problem is, they’ll let me know. Wish I could tell Wells Fargo Auto loan folks the same thing. But, I’m under the lion’s paw, so I sit and wait for answers.

I’ve done all this with the Ford rep at least 10+ times over the years. It’s the definition of insanity- doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome. It doesn’t work.

There is no way to reset it other than pulling the cable. You can pretty easily identify if it’s working or not.

I can’t speak for the last 2 years but the system does work now and quite reliably.
I transferred power multiple times yesterday with no issue. The only issue out of our control is getting the OTA. I do believe one of the updates around 6.14 is needed.

I can’t speak for the last 2 years but the system does work now and quite reliably.
I transferred power multiple times yesterday with no issue. The only issue out of our control is getting the OTA. I do believe one of the updates around 6.14 is needed.
