I wish all Canadian trucks had them. My 23 XLT does not.

I also wish the Mongoose cable wasn't so stupidly expensive.
I have a Canadian 23 Platinum and don't have it either. So I don't think it's a trim thing. They must have been caught from some Canadian authority and told to turn them off here too.

I would really love to have the matrix lighting too but I don't want to mess around with software considering we get OTA updates. My truck seems to be very stable compared to issues many others report they have with software. I would hate if there was some sort of future conflict and then when I bring it in for service, get the "You changed the settings which caused the problem so here is a huge bill for us to figure that out". I must be getting Old... I would have definitely done the change by now when I was younger. Guess I've gotten wiser from messing so many things up. lol

Just back up the modules before making the changes or make note of the existing values. Then you can easily change it back. I have a whole spreadsheet for the values I've modified.

Just back up the modules before making the changes or make note of the existing values. Then you can easily change it back. I have a whole spreadsheet for the values I've modified.

So do you change them back before you apply every software update? If Not, how do you know if Ford's update is not making some of the same changes that you already applied. If you have a problem and switch everything back, then those settings would now be wrong too because you are turning things off that the update turned on.

Not trying to discourage people from doing it. I understand that (if you some level of competency) it's relatively easy and safe to do so, and the chances of what I said above are slim. BUT, this isn't some throwaway device that you can go, oh well and toss if things go bad. They are expensive, and still under warranty. That means I will be forced to deal with the consequences (bricked truck) and costs to get it fixed. There is a low level of risk involved that I am not willing to take so early into ownership. Once the newness wears off and I have no more warranty, I would be willing to take more risks by playing around with these settings.

Those of you seeking strangers to do it for you is even a worse idea. First of all you have no clue what they are doing so if they mess your truck up, then what? It's not that hard to do. You are way better off doing it yourself and keeping records as PJnc284 does. That way you know how to do it and you can undo things should down the road the community says to make sure you undo your matrix light setting before accepting Fords latest OTA update.

There may be some confusion here. This thread is about the glare-free headlights which doesn't require the expensive mongoose connector. It CAN be used but that's generally used for updating modules in FDRS to avoid waiting for OTA updates. I suspect most are using something like Amazon.com: OBDLink EX FORScan OBD Adapter : Automotive which is significantly cheaper if you're only planning to do FORScan edits. I haven't had any issues with OTA updates interfering with FORScan mods or modules that I've manually updated in FDRS. As with anything there is a risk but using FDRS and FORScan isn't new and are fairly idiot proof given the proper precautions. FORScan is 3rd party but FDRS is the same software that ford technicians would use to update modules when you take it in for CSPs. I've certainly fat fingered things a time or two and lost my controls tab and 1 pedal driving toggle but it was easy to back track. Always make backups of the modules in FORScan and be sure you have an adequate power supply if you're venturing down the FDRS path.

I also want to clarify. I am not implying that there have been any issues using FDRS and/or FORScan. but just because you never had or aren't aware of any issues, doesn't mean a conflict can't or won't happen in a future update. An update could always check to see if a certain parameter is set a certain way before applying something. Just saying, I am not okay with messing around with things just yet but if others are, please enjoy and go nuts.

Wont work on my 2024 XLT, i did the changes in forescan, glare free menu now replace automatic high beam option. Lights swill swivel when car is turned on but they wont swivel when driving, also my automatic high beam never go on

I would say double check your settings, but honestly revert to a backup for all affected modules. Then, make the changes again. Clear DTCs, and if necessary run the calibration.

Sorry this happened, but I think the best method is to revert and try again.

I was googling a bit the other day about whether there was any movement on regulations / hope that Ford would just turn on the glare free option at any point in the future. Turns out, the matrix light regulation was put out in ~Feb 2024 per the article below. In summary, Ford can never turn on glare free for us because the lights aren’t technically capable enough to meet their strict regulation.

TLDR: Ford and other automakers were expecting regulations like EU, Canada, etc on these and equipped the cars accordingly. Lightning will never get enabled with the current regulation because its only ‘euro spec’ not the extra stringent US spec.
