2024 Ford Lightning
I have about a one month old Ford Lightning flash with 320 mile ranged battery.

Qmerit subcontractors installed 100amp bi-directional charger. Cost an additional $1100.
I asked "ok can I power my house with this?"
Qmerit "No, you can only charge SunRun has to do further installation."

Called Sunrun had a site visit by a Sunrun tech who said "I don't know why I'm here you have the bidirectional charger you're good to go."
I asked "can I power my house now?"
The reply "I'm just a site tech I don't know. But I'm going to close this job as finished."
WTF???
So far no one Ford dealer or Sunrun has talked about the trucks software, became aware of it on these forums, no one wants to explain the process of powering the house, what breakers I can and can't use, and how to disconnect from the main so I'm not back feeding the grid.
Some of this I can do on my own, I know where the power comes in and there are knife switches there to kill incoming power,
But really is this the "service" I should expect??

Im not sure what to try next. I'd appreciate input.

Thanks

Post a photo of the equipment they installed, I think we have massive failure of communication.

Watch How Ford Lightning's Intelligent Backup Power System Works In A Real Home

Youtube channel state of charge has a pretty good explanation of the Home Integration System.

Sunrun sells the rest of the hardware required (inverter, dark start battery, delta whole home backup device numbers 4,5 & 6 in the image). item 8 is the Ford Charge Station Pro. I marked this up for my electrician. I would not advise you to do this. It was a costly mistake for me. It hasn't worked since September and only worked sometimes prior to that. System was started up in April of 2023.

Unfortunately, this is the type of service you can expect from SunRun. They are a clown car company who doesn’t know their left hand from their right. I don’t know why Ford keeps recommending and referring them. Must be lucrative for them somehow.

Sun Run impressed me as a boiler-room operation in 2022 when I bout my Lightning. When the first person to answer the phone said I needed to confirm my order with a manager, I told them to get lost. I installed the smaller charger at both of my homes myself for a fraction of what SunRun wanted.

Yes.

My advice: stop. Don't bother. The home backup system is a dysfunctional garbage heap. Use the Pro Power onboard and a properly installed generator inlet. Done. The end.

This.

there isn’t much equipment to allow your car to charge, but a lot more equipment for the v2H capability.

The backup system can only pull 9.6KW so my subpanel (in photo with the stucco around) has the backed up breakers. Within other boxes are inverter, automatic transfer switches, physical cutoff switches for safety. And I also have solar so at least one extra component for solar cutoff.

interesting comment from @Wattsgas re:September - the motherboard in my delta inverter also died in September - so my solar generation is down (repair happening next week which Sunrun took 3 months to schedule - parts and tech availability issue). They are not monitoring the system! Not happy at all.
However charging still works and backup does still work

attached photo that is my version of the schematic.

Terrible. Is there a class action lawsuit I can join?

The most appalling thing is during the transaction at the dealership I kept saying over and over to the Ford salesman "I am only buying this car because of the ability to power my house".
Lots of head nods and reassurances this was no problem and was a big selling point of the vehicle.

I heard back from the Sunrun original who is a decent guy and trying to help. He sent a picture of a transformer and is trying to get someone who actually knows the instal.

Thanks for the feedback all.

Based on your posts, the only thing you have purchased is a truck and the Ford Charge Station Pro (FCSP). You have not purchased or installed the additional thousands of dollars worth of hardware for the home integration system. This includes an inverter, dark start battery, and completely rewiring your main electrical panel and/or installinga sub-panel. Typically the materials and labor for the complete Home Integration System is about $8,000-$10,000, is not part of the truck purchase, and does not magically materialize on your house once you buy the truck. You would need to schedule the installation with whatever group of idiots Ford is currently using for that and give them lots of money.

But it's totally moot. Once you spend another $10,000 on all of that, it most likely won't work properly anyway. The system is garbage. Save yourself the money and headache. Put in a 30 amp generator inlet and interlock kit on your main panel. Use the Pro Power as a generator.

I'm sorry you were unaware what a boondoggle the Home Integration System is. The salesmen at dealers know nothing about it. They know nothing about most things. Their job is to nod their head and get you to sign for the truck. Their job is not actually to have any clue about what their selling.

Maybe someday someone will have invented a single wall mount EVSE that doubles as a bidirectional feed. Power goes in, power goes out. Perhaps in 2030?

It has to be more complicated than that. Otherwise you'd be blindly pushing power back out to the grid.

I tried calling them about solar - never returned my call.

If you had the HIS installed as others have pointed out you get 240V x 40A = 9.6kWh from you truck battery -when it works and I've seen so many posts and videos about how buggy it is.

But for the cost of a Generac 6853 Transfer switch, a 50A breaker, and a generator cable you can power emergency circuits at 240V 30A (7.2kW) from your truck bed ProPower on-board outlet (assuming you have the 9.6kW ProPower option). Add the cost of install by an electrician to install the transfer switch, but it'll be much less than to install the HIS, and more reliable.
----
If you feel adventurous and want to try the HIS you can buy the rest of the equipment you need for $3895 from:

https://his.aeesolar.com/s/product/...ble-ford-home-backup-power/01t1Q000008Hdl9QAC

The Home Integration System will arrive in 3 packages.
  1. Bidirectional Inverter (4, 6, 8, or 10kW)
  2. Microgrid Integration Device
  3. Dark Start Battery
But you'll still need some supplies like conduit, etc.

You can hire anyone to install it.

https://his.aeesolar.com/s/product/...ble-ford-home-backup-power/01t1Q000008Hdl9QAC

There is also an app/software you need from Ford to use the HIS and you buy a license for $500 more.

All for an measly extra 240V x 10A - 2.4kW of power.

That is why many of us say don't bother with the HIS.

Good luck.

Once they told me the cost to install all the components for the powering back the house, I dropped them like a bad habit. $9,000 for a system to power part of my house?? No thanks. I can spend less on a natural gas generator and probably have more backed up. Plus, the house doesn't have power if the truck isn't plugged in. So if you need to go run an errand or something happens and you lose power when you're not home, the system is a $9,000 piece of artwork.

When Helene came through GA and we lost power for about a day, I just turned the truck on and ran an extension cord from the ProPower outlets to the fridge and whatever else I needed to power. Much cheaper, even though it took "work" to plug into an extension cord.
