The battery prep phase resumed at 9:27, automatic cabin conditioning did not execute as expected at 9:45, I started it by hitting the fan button, also requested extra time to 10:15 though I plan to get out around 10:00 ish.

Here is the final results of charging & conditioning:

Fordpass doesn't track total kWh accurately IF you interrupt the process with stop/start button

Now to see how far this lasts on my 160 ish mile trip today

Very well documented thanks! Be watching the see how the trip went. If round trip and below freezing but above 0* my guess is 50 miles of range at 15% on return.

Full rate ~9 KW battery warming kicked on around 12:02 pm, ran for about 12 minutes then amperage went up to ~18 KW as if the battery OBCC was trying to top the battery, but note SOC only went up 0% during the entire process of 1.75 hours. Total energy used to condition the battery was 10.1 kWh. The official cabin conditioning ran from 12:45 to 1:00 pm, you see the cycling of the PTC around and under 4.5 KW during this phase, it appears the battery was at spec around 12:35.
I have an Emporia Vue Gen 2 with current transformers on the two 100A lines going to the garage sub-panel with Tesla J1772 wall connector, etc. Is there a way to see the two lines added together as 240V instead of two separate 120V Amp/kWh rates?

Condition at the start of the trip with warm battery & cabin, 100% SOC and 100% power to the motors, possible range is 263 as I'm rolling away from the house, note the immediate drop from the 309 while it was plugged in from my morning report, I think the route planner and current condition reduced the projected value since I would be getting onto the highway a short distance away. Ideal {309/131=2.36 MPK} while more realistic {263/131=2.01 MPK}

Road trip completed, from the house to the "Club House" and back home ~168 miles, overall 1.8 MPK, using 74% of the 131 KWH battery or 97 kWh, the computed MPK is 1.73.

Cabin temps maintained at 72° while outside temps ranged from low 30's to 27° seen below.

The ride was at a steady 66 MPH while on the highway, including gusty winds.

Notice the gauge cluster and the where did my energy go MPK values match!!!!

I noticed this on the way up earlier, you can still get it to mis-match by 0.1, especially if goosing the go pedal too much, I was easy going the whole trip except for a couple quick down hill passes to get by unsafe slow-pokes. I don't know when this improvement came about, see my SIG for most recent OTA's

The battery lost a little of its optimism, after the first leg of the ride was done, this was my estimated range and SOC. I consumed 36% or ~ 47 kWh for a 1.79 MPK, as the evening got cooler the start of the return trip home, the available energy to the motors was limited 97% which slowly crept lower to the end of the trip.

I did not require any charging, but I did set a destination for a DCFC not far from my house to simulate on the fly battery preparation in case I needed to stop, the battery temp gauge stayed at the normal mid point the whole day so I suspect not to much warming was needed.

I only look at WATTS or CURRENCY displays and ignore all the others.

I'm using the two large clamps, one on each of the split phase feeds to the EVSE.

If I look at the amperage display the value is double the actual current.

Hah, she was projecting 48 mile at 26%, the orange (ALERT) warning at 50 miles came on at 27%, this is a little pessimistic, 26% at my 1.8 burn rate should get me 61 miles to the last electron, I'm not pushing it that close this time of year.

No complaints here just curious if the motors temperature gauge is just a dummy gauge. Or possibly only registers overheating. I started up this morning and the motor is right on the line (always is -15 to 95) yet I didn’t lose a single percent of battery overnight so how is it at temp?

by the way, the only reason this was intentional is I would’ve had to move my wife’s car to charge and seeing I was almost at 90 didn’t bother

Your GOM sure took a hit. Fuck! So far here in Michigan charging to 90% even with it 6 this morning granted I was plugged in I was showing around 265ish. I have a 23 lariat ER.

Final energy report for this test.

Distance 167.5 miles, energy 112 kWh, all in MPK is 1.5 includes pre-conditioning overhead
my cost is least expensive home charging @ 33.67 c/kwh
Cost $38 or 22.7 cents a mile.

My old 2012 F250 PSD would have been $37 or 22.2 cent/mile at current fuel rates in southern new England, {BJ's $3.339 / gallon}

NO, I'm not selling the Lightning, I still value many positive aspects of driving the EV Truck

Why I’m damn glad my work let me install my level 2 charger there. Gas is only 2.89 here now making it even more of a wash otherwise.

Let the truck cold soak overnight unplugged to see how much of prior conditioning was retained.

Opened Fordpass this morning, stale data showed this at 7:03 am

1734185408538-if.jpg

Hit the Lock command and location check, and begin charging to 95% now it's this, lost 6 miles from cooling the pack, finish by projection is based on warm pack at 7:06 am

1734185473751-v5.jpg

At 7:19 this is how much the SOC changed and energy sent, 3.5 kWh much of it going to the PTC to warm up the pack.

1734185892871-zg.jpg

At 7:32 the ETA was breached but projection not updated yet.

1734185576171-fz.jpg

Charging goal reached at 7:40 am.

1734185775584-6o.jpg

I tapped the start charge button so that I could see the stat's panel for how much energy had been sent to reach 5%. I expected ~ 6.6kWh of stored energy (ER pack), but she consumed 8.6 kWh according to Fordpass, but Emporia said 9.34 kWh, the excess 2.74 was to rewarm the pack.

1734185973248-z5.jpg
1734186168212-a3.jpg

At this point 9am to 10 am I'm adding final 5% and waiting for departure time controller to determine how much more battery warming is needed and to start warming the cabin for a designated 9:50 leave time, actual leave time will be 10:00 am. As of 9:28 am the pack is at 99% and final phase of balancing is occurring as the charge current is slowing.

So would you say during winter it is basically a wash versus ICE? But summer…Lightning for the win.
