Would be good to be able to tell the lightning to look for the latest updates for the spec/year of your truck and tell it to send the updates. There haven’t been that many updates and it can’t be that difficult? Microsoft/Apple/Android seem to manage with billions of endpoints.
I’d be happy if it told me which updates are available and when it could install them, even if that was in a couple of weeks.
I’m puzzled by the randomness of my truck’s updates. My last update was Oct 18th 2024.
Don’t get me wrong I love the truck. I’ll take a Ford lightning, with weaker software, built by a proper car manufacturer, over a Tesla, with amazing software, built by a software company that happens to build a car.

Hopefully they come through to my 2022 Lariat all CSPs have been completed. I haven’t had an OTA since early September. Just went out and tried ran reviewed, and still no software updates available.

Well this was helpful, thanks.

On that note
Truck purchased in August, first update was October iirc.

11-04-24 - 6.2.0
11-08-24 - 6.4.0
11-13-24 - 24-PU0119-DC-CHG4
11-22-24 - 23-PU0110-RAD-PS

1-23-25 - 6.5.0
1-24-25 - 6.8.0
1-26-25 - 23-PU1113-UNX-DC
1-29-25 - 6.14.0
1-30-25 - ECG-24.2.5.6.2.2

I swear there was a ECG in there prior to today but it's not listed.

Edit: Originally said fiesta update was in Nov but I do remember a 4.x.x update which must have been past the 90 day history.

Leave your truck running for a few hours in an area with good cellular reception.

I would say try this once or twice a month for a few months and see what happens. As it was explained on here, all updates are downloaded via cellular, but only when the truck is running.

i’ve tried about everything recommended here including putting it on a battery tender, yes I have the leads downstream of the sensor. Even a 100% LVB doens’t help. I did update some of the modules using FDRS late summer, and got one update on 3 September then nothing.

GDN and I were just talking about this. He says there is no reason to leave the truck running, the downloads will continue even if you turn the truck off. I have no reason to doubt his expertise here, I'll just say there is no harm in trying.

I have left mine running while at work (turning off the 30 min timer), one day I let it run for 4 hours while I bounced around from meeting to meeting. Or I have left it run while shopping, etc. Not on a charger, running. Its possibly its all anecdotal, but I have not seen folks mention getting 5 updates in 7 days before.

Not sure what happened but something is seriously wrong with my Lightning software.
  • My front sensors do not work properly, there is no lane holding feature/hands free driving, Wi-fi doesnt work, and even though it says I have LTE, no data is sent or received.
  • The app does not connect to the truck and I cannot set departure times, start the truck or see its location within the app.
  • I can still use the phone as a key and open and close the tailgate/frunkl (I think that uses bluetooth.
  • Wireless CarPlay works.
Have an appointment in a week with the dealer. I tries soft and hard reboot of the infotainment system. Wonder if a software update went bad?

What is the last applied software update listed on your Sync screen or on Ford.com link in post one of this thread?

This has been an on again off again issue since I got this truck (summer 23). I did not get an update for months then I got a few and I thought the problem was over, then I got nothing for months then I'd get a few etc. etc. etc. I truly believe my system falls in a hole in the distribution system and somehow pops up once or twice a year. I tried the FDRS route to keep the software up to date but when Ford locked down one of the modules, I gave up on that idea.
