51,325 PRO SR and more than 24,000 miles of that while towing our Camper...

the LIGHTNING loves Walmart parking lots overnight, or even a Campground every now and then, especially near the beach... it also drinks a lot of something called 'Tesla' power... tee hee.

I understand what you are saying but ice you can fix any issue or even replace a motor for reasonable price but the battery which I admit I have no idea what its cost to replace is but that is the only fear of keeping beyond the warranty. I have heard some pretty huge numbers from tesla owners but maybe fords battery is much cheaper.
Replacing an engine with a reman will be similar in cost to a module replacement.

I took delivery of my 2023 Lightning Lariat ER on 1/6/2023 and currently have 63,428 miles on it - all virtually trouble free.

only Ford issue was the connectivity to FordPass was sketchy 2023 into 2024 but they replaced the TCU (telematics communication unit) and it has been good ever since. I also threw on a new set of Cooper Rugged Trek tires, look much better than OE and grippier but a bit louder - minimal if much range impact that I have seen.

Best new vehicle experience I have ever had.

I think battery degradation is the biggest issue for many of us. I tend to keep vehicles for a long time and would love to keep this truck. So far it’s the best vehicle I’ve owned. I keep wondering about the eventual cost of battery replacement as well as if and when better batteries will become available. Right now it seems that everybody is just guessing, but I suspect in a few years we will have more specific information about these issues. Until then, I’ll just keep enjoying the truck as it is

I believe you after the warranty expires if something goes wrong, you should be able to just replace that module and keep on going so I don’t think it’s necessary to remove and replace the whole battery just the affected module that could possibly have a problem. That’s just my opinion.

I’d also like to hear some high mileage Lightnings. I’d also like to hear about any high mileage Mach-e’s as I see a lot of people have those as well. We have thought of getting a Mach-e in the future, but the other vehicle is a RX350 with the NA engines that seem to run close to 7 digit miles…..

You definitely have to remove the whole battery from the truck to replace an individual module.

Early ‘22 delivery Lariat with 72k miles and running strong with last deep analysis of pack SOH at 95.5% and a LOT of supercharging sessions. Only major issue I’ve had is 5 replacements of the rear lightbar.

My Lightning was built last week and I am awaiting transport. So I can not attest to battery life of the Lightning, but I can for my 2018 Leaf. The earlier generation had a bad rep. but mine has been great for 7 years in March. There has been no degradation according to Leaf Spy I think if I remember the last time I checked it was at ~ 94%. The Guess-O-Meter is down a bit but this seems to be mostly because the Michelin All Weather Tires are no where near as good as the Nokian All Weather Tires. This and winter drop the range about 40 km, or about 16%.

There are now aftermarket battery replacements appearing for the Leaf and I suspect there will be also for the Lightning when the time comes. From most accounts the batteries are at least as dependable as ICE engines, not significantly if any more expensive than an OEM replacement engine. Aftermarket rebuilders will start to appear as batteries components become available. The motors do not have much to wear other than bearings. The expensive bits to replace will be the Control Components such as the Motor Controller and AC-DC components. From what I can see on Munro Live there is not much to repair on these things, only replace.

I drove my Mach E for 75,001 miles before I traded it in for the Lightning. The traction HV battery seemed as good as new on trade-in although my driving did blow the front motor, twice... hence the trade for the Lightning.

AFAIK today's traction batteries with their battery management system(s) will likely outlast our trucks before they degrade beyond usability.

Also, somewhere (maybe here? maybe on another forum?) I seem to remember reading that the dealerships can and in some cases already have replaced battery components (modules? "pouches"?) that had gone permanently out of balance. If I remember where this came from I'll post a link here.

On a related note, on the Mach E Forum back in 2023 a very savvy member, Mach Lee, had posted a method to rebalance that car's traction (HV) battery cells every so often. That post's procedure might, or might not, apply to our Lightnings... that very detailed post's thrust was that as long as the battery cells stay or are kept in voltage balance, the battery will last and last and last...

Insert Ray liota laughing gif here.

I don't know why people think changing an engine or transmission is cheap. It's not.
truth is I have no idea as I have never had to change a motor, even on higher millage vehicles so it was a guess from the old days watching my uncle grab a motor from the local wreckers and pop it in his 77 f150 while drinking a case of beer which he had room on the fender for, seemed easy and cheap in the day LOL!
