I have my CSP fix for the front sensors scheduled on Monday. How do I gently tell the service department to hook up the 12v to a battery tender without sounding like one of those a-hole customers who thinks they know better than the trained technicians? 🙂
I just said, "I heard about people doing these updates at home without connecting the 12volt to a really strong power supply and bricking the car. I'm glad y'all are doing it here since I know you have the proper setup to do it the right way"

Just got a call from my service advisor that they were not able to apply any updates today due to "internet issues". Sounds like a BS excuse to me and they likely just didn't work on the vehicle at all. They asked to keep it over night so they can start on it first thing in the morning. I let them keep it. Will updated after I hear something tomorrow.
This actually happens a lot because Ford's servers are GARBAGE. I had brought mine in a few weeks ago and the FDRS servers were down for two straight days and they couldn't do software updates or diagnostics on anything... Had to bring it back this week.

Brought this TSB to the attention of my dealer, mentioned the hit-or-miss CarPlay issues. The service advisor said that there were no outstanding updates when I had the vehicle in to them about a month ago for the 10k service, but I politely persisted and he eventually scheduled me to check it out and see if any of the modules needed updating. It turns out both the Gateway and the APIM had updates available, so they applied them. That's the good news, I do notice some random notifications and behaviors that are different now, mostly proximity sensor things, but alas, the CarPlay issues persist. Still really happy with the vehicle, would buy (and did) it again, and don't understand the lack of acceptance with the motoring public. Then again, they don't pay me to understand the big picture, and I'm fine with that.

Dropped mine off yesterday morning. They did some updates and then the APIM started about 5 and was estimated for 2 hours so they let me know it would be ready this morning. When they got in this morning there were more updates that came up so it took until lunch time to finish. I lost my radio presets and driver profiles but everything else seems good. CarPlay has been solid so far and I got walk away lock. I might head to a DC charger this weekend to see if I got the 500A update.

Hey Cary, are you using Capitol Ford for your service, or somewhere else in the area? I bought my ER Lariat there, but have been using Crossroads Fuquay as it's a bit more convenient. Not unhappy with them, but not tied to them just checking if there are more convenient and effective locations.

Yeah, I’m using Capital. They seem to be well staffed with EV techs. When I mentioned the TSB the service advisor was familiar with it and they had already done some. I stopped there on Monday to schedule it and they were ready to take it Tuesday. He had openings every day this week. I picked Thursday because I had plans Tuesday and didn’t want to deal with the weather on Wednesday.

Mine is an early ‘22 Lariat ER. I haven’t received the notice from Ford. Everything works though. But I don’t have and really want “walkaway locking”. Does the program described by the actual notice that began this thread get that for me?
If they happen to update the BCM on a 22/23 MY, then WAL will be enabled by default. Only way to disable it is to enable the toggles in FORScan until Ford officially pushes it out OTA in the next century.

Also if you're around the Raleigh area and can't get any traction with the dealers to install updates, I have a mongoose and power supply. Manually updated everything in FDRS for mine last October.

I got my truck back yesterday and they told me they updated the modules that were behind. Today I went for a drive and when I got home I had a notification for walk away locking. This is a first for me 😎

Good to know. If I didn’t get the charging update I’ll be contacting you about the Mongoose. I’m going to check it tomorrow.

I did get walk away lock but I really don’t like it. I usually park in the garage and I hate that it locks every time I come home. I’ll be enabling the toggle in Forscan tomorrow.

until they can whitelist locking based on location this feature is worthless in my opinion

Be aware if you've updated your 12V you won't get a free one. I had replaced our 12V battery with an aftermarket one after our original 12V battery ballooned. 100% convinced the new battery was killed by the truck and dropped it off on Friday to get a replacement fitted - Dealership got s***y with us and charged me a dig fee plus a new battery because we hadn't got an OEM one.
I would have put in the original battery, jumped it off and drove it to the dealer. Assuming still under warranty. Love your channel BTW !!

Is walk away lock with the key fob or with PAAK?
