2025 flash 122 kwh

According to this article the 2025 flash will have a smaller capacity battery at 122 kwh while the Lariat and the Platinum remain at 131 kwh usable.
Is this a different battery? Is it different chemistry? Is it the same but ford just holding more back in the lower trim model? Maybe a new universal pack for multiple vehicles?
Interesting info nonetheless. Anyone have any more info or guesses.
Smaller battery capacity is going in the wrong direction. Would love to see a 170 kwh.

They probably were able to remove one of the battery modules in the pack that had around 10 kWh of capacity in order to save a bit on manufacturing costs and differentiate the higher end trims.

Hopefully it brings down the base price but honestly I fail to see the point since they already offer an even smaller 98 kwh battery pack if cost savings is the concern. The ER battery should be made the middle ground or even standard imo.

I haven't seen any confirmation, but earlier Ford was planning on using LFP (lithium iron phosphate) batteries in some models. If it is a LFP battery it will have different charging instructions than the current Lightning HVB. Following will provide more info, but not on the chemistry:

Look at the 5:23 time:

It's been previously reported and mentioned on these forums. It's most likely just an ER pack minus 1 module. People are suggesting it's to further differentiate the Lariat from the lower trims.

536 hp instead of 580 hp but same tq. Interesting. Must have a module removed.

Module 9 is ~10 kWh {net}, it's likely the module they eliminated, leaving the other 8 large modules at ~15.25 kWh.

Note from the link above the photo of module 9 shows the gross capacity of 11.95 kWh, but that's NOT available due to BMS limitations.

I think they were having difficulty with the lariat selling because the flash has many of the same features for less money. So I think it’s just to differentiate lariat (and platinum)a little bit more.

It will cut the price for them but not for us more than likely. They are trying to cut their losses down by removing some options, or making it where you have to pay extra for the previously added options.
