24 Flash- Tailgate swap

I tried looking but not definite awnser.
Can I buy a rear tailgate with rear light bar and replace my Non light one ? .
Assuming the wiring is needed and forscan maybe?

I'm pretty sure it's possible but I hate to see how much a new tailgate is going to cost you. My guess is It's probably going to be close to the difference of you just getting a Lariat in the first place. If you do find out what they cost, let us know, so we can all freak out together.

Well I'm hoping I can find one at junk yard local to me here Phoenix and Install. . I know the thought would be to buy lariat but. Here we are and I have a flash lol

No, you can't do a tailgate swap. The Lariat/Platinum tailgate has slight bulges on the side that cover up the backup lamps when the tailgate is up. If you put one of them on your truck those swedges will crash into your reverse lamps on the truck body. Your Flash does not have the cutouts to accept the swedge (circled in yellow).

This means the brake lamp assembly is different also. I supposed if you also changed out each brake lamp, you could make it work.

When the tailgate is up, it covers those recessed side lamps. Your Flash (and XLT/Pro) have side reverse lamps that are flush with the brake lights and not recessed. The tailgate sides are straight.

I only just realized this now, finally seeing more XLTS on the road.

But I want the recessed white lights as well as the white tailgate lights! It would look pretty sweet to have the four white lights. Nice silhouette.

Yeah... I completely forgot that the tailgates shape are different. I wonder why they covered those lights up in the lariat/platinum. I wouldn't have minded having the extra back up light that you say would look sweet. When my tailgate is up, it's not great for zone lighting either and if you put the tailgate down then you lose the lights on the tailgate bar.

Unless you are prepared to do some body work on that tailgate that you think you can find, you may be out of luck. I wonder if there is any 3rd party light bar that is available. If not, it might be a good thing for someone to make. I know if I had a Flash, that would be one of the first things I would want to do too.

Maybe someone will come up with a red plastic light bar that just attached to the Flash tailgate. It would just need to be red and reflective. Could add LEDs and power, but would need to run a wire.

If you're getting from a salvage yard, you might find tailgate and left/right brake lamp assemblies. Need to swap out the BLIS sensor from existing lamps. Would definitely need to figure how to wire in the reverse and brake lights on the new tailgate.

Also, the Lariat tailgates have power up/down - could be a bonus but likely require FORScan to enable - and more wiring. 24 Flash has power tailgate.

XLT ER has Power Up/Down, there are some models below a Lariat (with the Pro/XLT/Flash Tailgate) that have it.

A little off topic but when I was looking at the '24 and '25 Order Guides, the '24 Flash shows power tailgate and tailgate step as standard. But the '25 Order Guide has neither as standard. Tailgate step is a stand-alone option for '25. So looks like they got rid of power tailgate for '25 Flash.
