I got an alert from A2Z at 1AM yesterday that their 6' NACS DC extension cable was finally in stock. Unfortunately, by 9AM this morning when I read my email - no longer. Either it was a mistake, and the cable wasn't actually available yet, or people jumped on this in that 8 hours in the middle of the night and bought out the entire initial shipment!

If any of you managed to order one - let us all know!

Saw this as well. In the Reddit sub everyone was basically freaking out about how unsafe this cable would be, but I’m not sure what to believe.

I don't see any inherent reason it can't be safe. But if it is safe, it will be very, very heavy. I would trust A2Z to not cut corners here, but watch out when the fly by night Amazon vendors with names like SOBUBDY get into the mix.

I’m really curious how they made this work safely. There was a post a while back when they first talked about doing this and that they would have temperature-sensitive disconnects in both end connectors and other safety features. Personally I’m not racing to buy one of these.

Do we really need the extension I mean would it actually let us use any stall of our choice without taking up 2 spaces? I rarely take long trips but hate the thought of having to use 2 spaces when I do

A2Z just sent me an apology letter stating that they were testing their site and in doing so sent out emails to everyone on the list stating that the cords could be ordered. The cords are made and they are testing on different vehicles to make sure they are safe.

They are very qualified on producing products, and testing them, but website management and marketing are their weak spot.

at $400 I'd be surprised they'll sell very many. and who needs 6-9 feet. Tesla chargers I've seen in my limited experience would a lot easier with just an extra 3 feet.

Don’t hate - Cybertrucks take two spots to charge.

Easy enough to make the cable of thick enough gauge to not get too hot for the current levels it supports. Its just copper.

And the connection is just a duplicate of what is already happening at the vehicle.

The only slight increased risk is because there is an additional connection to worry about - 2 places to go bad instead of one. But if you can make one 99.99% safe, then you can make two connections 99.98% safe.

I would spend the $300 or even more if they combined it to be an extension / NACS-CCS1 adapter, to combine the two functions and have one less pair of plugs to heat up.
