Look what popped up on the Costco website.

And they only weigh about 40 lbs.

I bought the 115's about 3 weeks ago from Costco. They arrived at the warehouse in Nashua, NH last Monday(not yesterday). The minute I received the notification, I called and made an appointment for an install next Friday. This thread spooked me so I called the club yesterday and spoke to the Supervisor of the Tire Shop. Told him I had a Lariat and asked if they could still install these tires since I'd heard some Costco Clubs were refusing. He said he had heard something similar and theorized that those clubs had not paid attention to a bulletin sent out to all clubs a few months back giving the green light to install them. Needless to say I was relieved because with the $150 rebate, I paid $929 for the 4 tires/install and disposal. I'll update again after my install

I still haven't purchased new tires but am set on the Michelins. But it looks like we have a few options from them.

Michelin - Defender LTX M/S2 39.8lbs 116H
Michelin - Defender LTX M/S 42lbs 115T
Michelin - X LT A/S 2 39.8lbs 116H
Michelin - X LT A/S 41lbs 115H

What's the difference? My googling seems to think the "2" versions are updated versions of the originals. They have a higher weight and speed rating while appearing to weigh less.

AH! Found it! Defender LTX M/S = X LT A/S and Defender LTX M/S2 = X LT A/S2. The A/S versions are just specifically sold at club stores. I guess that means I will go with either of the "2" versions based on prices I can get locally.

Yep. Same tire, just different branding. I won't need new tires this winter, but will be watching Costco and Belle Tire sales next year for a set.

Quick update on my Cooper Discoverer Road and Trail ATs. Had them for ~400 miles at this point and just did my first long(ish) highway trip on them, ~175mi round trip taking my daughter back to college. I was...underwhelmed. Average efficiency on the drive was between 1.5mi/kWh and 1.6mi/kWh. ~75mph on average / ~45F temps / remote start but no preconditioning. That was a bigger range hit than I was expecting. I am hoping it was a fluke and had to do with headwinds or something, but with it being a round trip, I mostly doubt that. Will definitely need another longer trip to get more data.

Overall efficiency over ~400mi (including the trip above) is 1.8mi/kWh as compared to 2.0mi/kWh for my lifetime average, so much closer to the 10% hit I was expecting.

Still very happy with the tires performance besides that. traction, comfort, and noise have all been great. Haven't had a chance to test them in anything worse than a heavy rain yet though.

@sotek2345 Thanks for posting this. Cooper is what I’m thinking of switching to. I had the AT3 LT on my last truck and they were the best tires. My stock Hankook tires have worn like crap, 18k and they’re about done. Following as you’re the only Cooper experience I’ve seen.
Happy to answer any questions you may have. I have a 260ish mile round trip planned for this weekend, so I will give another update then.

Maybe I missed it but I hadn't seen it posted yet. It says that the Lariat 20" size will be available in February with other sizes to follow later next year. I don't have experience with Toyo myself but the non-EV version is popular and well-reviewed.

Got my set today. Initial experience is good. Road noise very low despite aggressive tread.

Details:
Rims: KM722 TECHNIC MATTE BRONZE - 18" Ă— 9" w/18 Offset
Tires Pirelli - Scorpion All Terrain Plus 275/70/18 LT 10 ply

No spacers or adjustments to suspension. Just bolted on and no issues of rubbing. Exact same overall height as OEM Lariat set.

Length - About 300 miles round trip with several stops

Elevation change - up about 1000 feet on the way out, and minus that on the way home.

Route - 80%+ Highway on the way there, only 25% highway on the way back.

Temps - mid 50's and light rain on the way out, upper 60cs on the way back.

Efficiency - 1.6 mi/kWh on the way out. 1.7 to 1.8 on the highway on the way back. 1.9 to 2.0 on the 2 lanes (55 to 60mph).

Overall, I am still not thrilled about the efficiency hit which I would estimate to be in the 15% range on the highway. Probably the closest I can get without much more scientific testing that I can't do. I can live with it though. Everything else about the tires has been great. Can't wait to test them out in some snow.

ive already had to replace 1 oem grabber and have another with a leak plus the new tire is also leaking, the debris at my client's sucks. So im looking at these coopers, really appreciating your input with my 140 mile daily trip i may have to pass on these...

140 miles each way? Ouch! That must be very tight even in perfect weather with the grabbers!

140 miles each way? Ouch! That must be very tight even in perfect weather with the grabbers!
140 round trip but in the winter the 60% it normally takes creeps up to 75-80%, the real problem is im still using a 24 amp charger (need to get the FCSP hooked up) and i can only get 50% over night.

The mileage hit sucks. I think I’d be okay with it if the performance is there. The stock tires ah been crap for me.

Agreed. Had the same experience with the stock Grabbers.

So far they have been fantastic for performance in the dry and wet (including very wet). No snow or ice yet to test that out.

Good morning, everyone.

I bought a used Lightning on Friday, and the stock Generals were around 50% when they took it on trade at 18,200 miles. I test drove before they had the chance to run it through the shop, and they agreed to let me pick the new tires.

I chose the Firestone Destination A/T2 because it's a high-rated tire with the 3PMSF rating, which should be better for snowy Minnesota winters. I have no idea about how the efficiency compares with factory rubber because I came from a Model Y, but I'm happy with them so far.

I've been watching tests from the Tyre Reviews YouTube channel for over a year, and their methodical track tests are among the best I've seen. They rate the A/T2 as one of the highest-performing in its class among all categories, but it's a bit weaker on dry roads. It seems to have the lowest rolling resistance of the ones they tested, which surprises me given the aggressive siping.

The stock tires have a 65K treadlife warranty if bought aftermarket, and these only have a 55K warranty. We'll see how long they last, but I expect they'll do well in the slush.
