Hi all, thanks so much for the informative posts and conversation. Any harm to the battery if truck is parked starting at ~85% charge and then left for 3 or 4 months outdoors in winter without being plugged in? Considering a '22 ER that's been sitting outside unplugged since fall in a cold climate. thanks in advance.

As long as there's a warranty....

I'd like to know what the current SoC is. Might be surprising.

No vehicle does well with that.

Ford recommends a 50% soc for long term storage. But that's in ideal temps. The 12v battery will get run down also.

I would look into somewhere indoors for storage that long or have someone drive the truck occasionally.
I think he is considering a pre-owned truck that has been sitting in that condition.

Actually, still new at the dealer.
I’m sure it has been moved around some - assuming it is not a demo/manequin. I am pretty sure that it sitting on the lot will not harm the truck. It is no different than the BEVs that Ford had in storage lots at the factory while awaiting inspections and shipping. And, last I checked, Michigan is not a tropical climate.

If you like the truck and it’s a good deal for you, buy it. At least you are getting a full warranty.

If it was a truck I wanted at a price I was willing to pay, I’d buy it.

They would have kept it at least clean and moved it occasionally I hope. Warranty is good, just make sure the dealer has good after sales service.

OBDII can tell you the battery health. Mine reads 100%. I still don't know what it is checking and what it exactly means but there is definitely an item for it that is easy to check.

2022s still have all the options and a full warranty. If you like the truck and the price go for it!

There is no harm from the cold. In fact, being cold slows degradation of batteries and also keeping the charge state around 50%. But if the 12v battery ran down to zero it could be toast. And if slow drain on the HV battery ran it down past the normal 0 it could be harmed, but Lightnings seems to loose very little when in deep sleep mode -- about 4kWh per month.
