Apple Maps turn indicator in instrument cluster

Update: on CarPlay it only works with Apple Maps (which is now decent). The cluster display doesn’t work with Waze or Google Maps.

I was concerned that this would be the case. I’m sure this is an Apple 3rd party app limitation and not a Ford thing.

For those with this functionality, have you tried using your cameras at high speed? It seems that some of the newer software allows this. Specifically just hit your camera button while you are rolling down the road and see if it pops up. Thanks!

This is one of the first things I tried after the update and nope it still doesn’t work for us with job 1 trucks.

Mine has done this since day 1, dont use Apple maps just what's default on the nav system. Its nicer to get the update right in front of me versus looking over at the screen and trying to figure where I am before running into something.

But don't give up on those Forscan gurus who are working every day to unlock features like this. If Ford actually enables cameras while driving, those geeks will find that setting eventually.

I’m a big Apple / CarPlay fan, so eagerly ran out to my truck to check my upgrade status. I’m showing 1.4.0, which is clearly not the latest version. I tried to manually check for updates - no cigar. Frustrating that Ford doesn’t roll their updates out consistently, especially in the internet world where they know we’re all talking.

I can’t see anything in the version description for sync right now, it’s blank. Also, my update selections are all grayed out. Anyone else experience this?

Nope, that’s strange.

I use android and had it from day 1. But i hate the option as it moves the Speedlimit logo to the bottom right instead of where the actual speed is indicated and I like to see what the speed limits are without having to 'read' the numbers inside the logo. Im hoping there is a way to turn OFF this option!

When I first saw the truck doing that (using the built in Nav, just for the heck of it I through I would try it), I thought there was a bug in the system because of the placement of the speed limit logo. I realized after trying it again that it was just moving stuff around, but agree, no the best placement.

If only Apple Maps wouldn't be complete s*** compared to Waze or G-Maps. I wish they could just create a proper instrument cluster integration with CarPlay/Android Auto in general but it's basically up to each individual app developer and the car manufacturer.

Not really sure why you think Apple maps is so shitty. It's not 3 years ago!!!
Apple maps are hands-down better than Google Maps now. The level of details in the maps is crazy (I used to be an avid Google Maps fan)
