Hey guys,

Started having issues with my AC the last month and started noticing that my "Exterior temperature" on my trip energy hasn't even been showing 0%...it just flat lines.

Today they fixed the AC blower at the dealership, but the flat line is still there. On colder mornings when the heat comes on, the percentage goes up accordingly, but on very warm days, flat line.

My worry is the battery simply just isn't being cooled and when I hook this up to a fast charger, it will just overheat and either prevent me from charging, damage my battery or charge incredibly slow...

Anybody else notice this issue?

Curious of the measure after a few more KM's driven.

What does the Trip 1 and 2 cumulatives show, are they also flat lined?

No, since it does go up when it requires heat.

I’m pretty sure the “exterior temperature” number refers to energy used to heat or cool the battery, and is independent of cabin air conditioning (I believe that cabin heat may leverage warm battery coolant if possible). I belie the flatline (—%) indicates no usage at all, while a number such as 0% indicates some usage even if it rounds to less than 1%.

Your outside temperature in the screenshot looks quite reasonable for the battery (26C or 79F), so it seems likely that no battery heating or cooling has been needed recently. The cooling fans are pretty noticeable on my truck when they start up, and they start pretty promptly when fast charging — so if you have any doubts, listen for the fans at your next fast charge.

The owner’s manual states that Exterior Temperature includes energy losses due to outside temperature and other conditions which reduce vehicle system efficiency. EV efficiency typically improves in warmer weather and reduces in colder weather. I would just be guessing on how this parameter is actually calculated but I think the energy to heat and cool the battery would be a good guess.

What does it show for Trip 1 and Trip 2? As above, 0.6 km is not much to be basing much on.

It's always flat line, here's a longer trip.

I also started a new Lightning on the lot and right away it listed 0%.

Anyone else getting a flat line?

Nope, I have a value for Ext Temp, energy to cool the battery pack
