Is five seconds the standard amount of time that blue Cruise allows you to look away before starting to freak out on you? This is not nearly enough time to operate the AC controls that require me to push a Software button just to pull them up and then wait for it to load and then find the right button or setting. It doesnā€™t seem that it is safer for blue Cruise to disengage at this timeā€¦

I swear this was longer before a certain update hit and I donā€™t know which one. I feel like it was closer to 30 seconds at one point

Worked just fine last time I used it. The interior camera can be sensitive if partially blocked or if you lean away from it. 5 seconds is a long time to have your head down at highway speed.

The sync system can do that for you! https://www.ford.com/support/vehicl...nc/how-do-i-use-sync-voice-commands/overview/

It has never changed, and it was always around 5 seconds.

Set HVAC with voice.

Taking your eyes off the road for 30 seconds? What roads do you drive on so I can avoid them?

I agree with OP - 5 seconds is too short.
BC does not account for peripheral vision, which is superior to detecting moving things - that tech is just not there yet.

I my experience voice controls cause more aggravation and distraction than a few screen taps.
this system is way to sensitive and it's alerts are more risk than help.

One additional thought, what happens if you are *actually* incapacitated/passed out during BC session? Does it go back to regular mode, or does it slow down and gently pull over and put the hazards on like Tesla?

Out of Spec tested this, I don't recall exactly where but it's one of the first things they checked before doing the out and back highway run.

At 80 mph, which is the fastest speed BlueCruise is allowed to be engaged, you cover 585 feet in five seconds. Said another way, Ford engineers allow vehicles to go nearly two football fields without anyone looking at the road.šŸ˜³

Five seconds is, IMHO is way too short. I could take my hands off the wheel in my 2022 Maverick for 10 seconds without facial monitoring. So way is it they dropped that to 5 seconds in the Lightning?

This has been a peeve of mine since day one.
