That's definitely the budget version, as kids we used to attach a string between the handlebars and the clothes pin to act as the throttle.

To me this is the same as putting an M3 sticker on a regular BMW or a spoiler on a front wheel drive car. Or perhaps even more accurately, those lame cars that pump exhaust sound into the car.

EVERY ICE BMW currently sold pumps fake engine noise into the cabin. Many many cars do.
Porsche is one of the few hold-outs that doesn't create fake engine noises for their cars, but does put sounds into their EVs.

I am actually totally okay with what Borla is offering. They will sell a bunch of these units. It would be fun to make my Lightning sound like a big turbo diesel.

I can't imagine anyone having it on at all times, but I guess maybe some would. I would see a use for it (not that I'm buying it), pulling into an EV show, with all the cars lined up for display, and you pull in and then turn on the exhaust noise. That would be funny as hell.

Or, when the person next to me starts making like they're going to beat me at the light, and I turn on the noise and rev the engine, scaring the crap out of them.

But, worth maybe $300 to me, not $1,606.99.

Why not? I dont think this has anything to do with the operation of the Lightning, so the "smooth operation" isn't going anywhere. It would be hilarious when a diesel or V8 pulls up revving and you put your speaker on full blast outdoing them . It's all in fun, but $1600 is too much. $500 maybe.

We all got electric cars for different reasons, at least for me quiet and saving the environment wasn't on the list.

I am definitely not a fan of this setup, particularly for the cost. I appreciate more of Tesla’s playful approach they use for the mandated low speed audio noice.

if this was integrated into that system, I could see having fun with it from time to time. Especially since I am not a fan of the ufo and dong sounds that have become the norm.

Exactly! I had a 75 VW Bus and after installing the new single carb on it, I got to the "Powered By Holly" sticker that came in the box. (I got it up to 80 MPH ... once!)
