2024 Ford Lightning Lariat
Just took delivery on Jan 27th, and within 10 days it's died. Had a Mach E since release with 0 issues and traded in for thr lightning.

Woke up in the morning. Started car via app as usual, battery charged to 85% was plugged in overnight due to temperature. Unplugged, started the vehicle and as I reversed out of my driveway got the warning to pull over slowly. As soon as the car stopped, watched my available power drop from 100 to 3, and another warning pop up to service vehicle immediately. Vehicle had full accessory but was essentially a very expensive street decoration. Had no issues present in the Fordpass app and no other notifications.

I was able to call ford roadside assistance who sent a tow truck to check the 12v, which was in range and charged. Vehicle then got loaded up on a flatbed.

Thankfully because I still had full accessory power i was easily able to use the emergency tow function in the sync to get it shifted to neutral.

Vehicle towed to local dealership based on distance, and when there they stated there could be a multitude of issues. Unfortunately for me however dealership stated they would not give me a loaner vehicle until March 10th.... and would not provide me with a rental. They then went on to say I should call the selling dealership so that they can fix the vehicle and get me one of their loaners/rental, and have them tow the vehicle to their service department.

I'm shocked that this was the customer service I recieved for what is obviously a vehicle issue that has caused a catastrophic failure within 10 days of ownership.

Not sure how others here have dealt with warranty issues, but dealing with the dealership so far has been a nightmare.

Also widly concerned that the vehicle in less than 2 weeks of ownership has failed. Having remorse now for trading in my issue free Mach E!

The dealership issue is a local problem. They operate independently and we have seen a wide array of service levels through my time here.

The behind the other hand is definitely a FOMOCO issue.

Sorry to see you having to deal with this quality control issue.

It will likely be a HV module issue.

I also traded my problem-free Mach-E in for a Lightning. I've been crossing my fingers that the Lightning wouldn't have any of the major issues I read about on this forum. But this week I got the dreaded yellow wrench and the red ring of death charge port light. It looks like it's gonna be in the shop for a module replacement --and who knows what other gremlins will pop up once they tear into it.

But here's the thing: I absolutely love driving the Lightning! So for now, I'm willing to be patient (to a point) and hopefully get it back soon with no more issues. That said, I'm mentally prepared for the worst. As much as I love the Lightning, it's almost guaranteed that I'll be trading it for something else well before my warranty is up.

Yeah, that sucks.

The dealership where you dropped off your truck clearly doesn't want your business, hopefully you have better luck with your selling dealer. Please name the dealership who didn't help you so the rest of us can avoid it.

This is the key. Half of the nationwide dealers do not want to embrace EV's. Hopefully you can find a friendly one within tow truck distance. Good Luck, please keep us posted, you may find help here.

We are fortunate that the FoMoCo dealer is 20 miles away and has the tech support to resolve BMS, frunk switch, and OTA issues. They’ve been good with a loaner for an overnight stay on the OTA issues. My sis bought a Mach E there because their Prius required a Portland journey (2.5 hours away). so a good dealer makes the difference. Tesla service center is in Portland too and that’s a Pita for major service. We‘ve also access to a very good repair-autobody shop familiar with BEVs. If those services weren’t close, the S.O. and I probably would not have gone BEV. We’ve a combined 100K miles on the two vehicles and relatively trouble free other than noted (and one deer strike!).

We’ve purchased 9 autos at that dealer in 40+ years so we’ve a good history from their P.O.V.

Fuel savings gross about $22,000 and net (combined both vehicles) at ~$19,000 in 3.5 years as we charge at home at $.0634 per kWh plus 1 set of tires on Mach E.

I feel for you guys having these issues, especially so early in your ownership. I never knew there were EV hating dealerships here in the US when I purchased our 24 Lightning Lariat last fall. All of the Dealers I had contact with during the buying process were not negative about EV's at all. I've read several posts here about a few dealers and their negativity. Good luck to you guys finding a good dealership and expedient resolution.

Sad that dealers aren't supporting the MoCo with the warranty responsibilities, this behaviour runs both ways, karma has ways.

So FoMoCo why aren't you towing to the "selling" dealer if you're allowing passes on what "closest" dealers are pulling with poor service to non-retail-customers @Ford Motor Company ??

A lot of owner eyes are on this one.
You have an opportunity for either positive or negative customer relations.

Really, 49% of the country voted against the green new deal. I am not surprised. Also I bet most mechanics feel threatened by EVs. They would have to get more training that a lot of them cannot comprehend.

Call ford corporate. The dealer is not required to give you a loaner as the cars are owned by the dealers not ford motor corporation. So tow it to the selling dealer. You would probably be out of a vehicle for 4-7 weeks. I went through a similar issue. My suspicion it would be the battery array. Welcome to ford customer service.

It's the science denial that I'll never understand. As far as technology making techs feel threatened , there have always been those who embrace new technology and become proficient in doing so. That was my mindset when I was a tech. But EV training is probably lacking at more dealerships than the ones who fully invest in EV Technology.
