Just got my XLT SR and connected it to a dryer outlet (240v 30a) with the mobile charger. The truck was only pulling 1 kw. I thought this might be because the Ford charger isn't adjustable so it defaults to the 120v charging speed?

Anyway, so I got an adjustable charger and set it to 24a, but it's still only pulling 1 kw in the Ford Pass app (1.3 kw in the charger's app). What do I have to do to get the truck charger to pull the full load?

Have you put a voltmeter on the outlet to confirm 240V?

also, the question might be: HOW did you adapt to this 'dryer outlet'?

is it a 4 prong NEMA 14-50 outlet?
is it a 3 prong 'older' 240v outlet?
are you using an adapter from your EVSE to the outlet?

The FORD EVSE is either 240v 30amp, or 120v 12amp...either way, neither will 'change' just because of the type of outlet you are plugged into. Neither are adjustable. Neither 'adjust' themselves to your outlet.

I expect the dryer didn't work wired this way. The Ford Mobile Charger requires a 40 amp circuit. It will kick out a 30-amp circuit and if it doesn't you are running up against a fire hazard. You need to stick with no more than 24 amps on a 30 amp circuit to stay within the safety margins.
For the most part, this charge speed is adequate for most of us.
