So woke up yesterday morning (Monday) and walked outside to see that my truck wasn’t charging and my Ford charge station Pro had an alternating blue and yellow light blinking.

I power cycle the thing, no change I tried to connect to it, couldn’t happen. I contacted Ford And they tried to push an update to the device, it didn’t update.

In speaking with Ford they said if they can’t get it fixed, they’ll send out another one. My issue is that I had such a problem with sunrun that I had to go with a private electrician, so if the charger needs to be replaced, I don’t know if Ford is going to pay for the installation change or not. The representative that I spoke with has been incredibly helpful, and I have nothing but compliments for her.

I’m not necessarily complaining at the moment (even though this is annoying) but I’m just kind of posting it up here in case anyone else is having this issue.

I got one of the first ChargeStationPro‘s and one of the first lightnings. I’ve had mine since June 2022.
i’ll try and update if there’s any changes

The good news is that the cost for an electrician to replace the unit will be nowhere near the cost of the original installation.
It should take 15 or 20 minutes to swap. You’re probably looking at whatever the minimum charge is for a service call.

**UPDATE**

After calling Ford and making sure I power cycled and trying to update the charger it was determined that it was dead. They sent me a new one and I had to contact my electrician to have it re-installed. Ford has stated that they will be reimbursing for the cost of the installation.

Sorry your unit died but that's great to hear that Ford is stepping up and covering the cost. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to receive it.

issue started last Monday. Had the replacement yesterday (wednesday) so 1.5 weeks after reporting the incident. My electrician happened to be available yesterday and it only took 20 mins to reinstall since the wiring was still there.

All in all fairly simple. Waiting to hear back from Ford on the reimbursal only now

Has anyone else experienced this situation?

The past couple of day's I've noticed this combination of indicator lights, it shows the amber lamp to the right of the pulsing blue while actively charging, once the charging has completed and the EVSE clicks to standby mode the amber light goes out.

The manual points to "Reduced Charging" as the meaning of this code

Interestingly the Fordpass shows a normal rate of charging 16KW is usually what it shows even though the Emporia meter shows a little more.

Emporia Vue2 chart shows customary full charging rate of 17 to 18 KW

I charge after going to sleep so it's been a long time since I've watched it while charging. Does the amber light come on right away?

Yes, I saw this, too. I presumed it was because I set the charge rate down to 64A in FordPass. I might turn it back to maximum and see if it goes back to blue. Do you have the charge rate dialed back?

Edit - never mind. I see you are charging at the max.

Correct, I have played with the adjustments in the app a few times in testing last week, maybe this is by product of that, today I did a shut down and restart of the EVSE, but it's still an issue.

Tomorrow afternoon I'll pull the cover to make sure the torque is proper on the fasteners, not certain this is a problem, but's been in service a year now.

Mine had the amber light as soon as I plugged in. No way it can be caused by bad connections getting hot.

Just after I plug in it comes on, I do not have time limitations for my charging sessions only the maximum SOC at 90%.

If you happen to be up late tonight and it's convenient, take a peek and see how yours is working.

That is what it looks like when you reduce the rate in FordPass. Something, somewhere, must have got stuck when you were doing the testing for my problem.

Typical Ford software.
If that's the case it's a negligible reduction and I really have no problem reaching my required SOC any day of the week.

That makes me curious, I'll tell it charge "now" tonight and see what it does.

Tested it this morning before I left for work since it was still in my window for charging. I double checked (took 2 tries) the FordPass app and it still says I'm set to 40A from previous testing. I plugged in and it started charging right away. FCSP blinked a solid blue light, no amber. App showed the full 16kW it always does when charging at 80A. Not a single bit of this makes sense....
