I’d really like to know what’s going on here. I can think of three possibilities,
1. Software bug
2. Overheating in the enclosure
3. Overheating in the plug

I’d wager on it being number 2 but until I get my hands on one it’s hard to say. Might be easy to test if the unit will allow you to charge with the cover off. If that works, perhaps it could be modified to enhance the cooling, such as ventilation or larger heat sinks.

Im running a stress test today on my system by charging in the middle of the day and it’s about 90 degrees outside right now . Ive been watching the system and I’m seeing the orange light once in a while which indicates a fault and getting the overheating message.

I really feel like my biggest mistake with this so far was installing the charger outside even though it’s in the shade.

I also had to do a network reset to the entire charge station pro this morning because it keeps dropping the network connection (I’m using an Eero Pro 6e mesh network and I’ve now moved a satellite to Be within five feet of the CSP.

It’s like the charge station pro was never beta tested .

Can confirm that you can charge with the cover off . I’ve had it off frequently , recently as the MAC address and password are located under the cover.

Charger was installed right next to the breaker panel. Used approximately 6 feet of number three copper wire. Alternates between five minutes of blue flash charging then one minute of Amber. Electrician said that the connector for the three gauge copper wire was of minimal quality. Also I still have not been able to obtain a password for my charger all I have is an access code which did not work. I have made some headway today with Ford at least they gave me a case number and said they will look into it. There must be a problem with these chargers in general they just can’t charge at 80 amps

I unfortunately have joined the club. I can charge at 80amps with the cover off. Not just the trim panel but the cover itself where you can see the circuit board. I get temps of 150F on the terminals. The charger cable side was the hottest.

Here are the results of the stress test I ran today . Please see screen shots .
I charged from 60-100% but the charger says I charged over 134kwh . It posts multiple charge sessions as the same and multiple overheating errors . A hot mess. Literally .

My charger is located directly across the wall ( 1 foot run Id guess) on a 100amp circuit and it’s a foot from my electric meter. My electrician did say to me he used 1 gauge instead of 3 . I think

@Ford Motor Company , are you tuned into this issue? It is one that is growing in size as more of the FCSPs are put into service. Not a good customer experience……

The access code was the password for mine.

I think my electrician is right when he told me the connector for the # 3 wire was flimsy. This is causing the overheating problems.

As for password I tried the access code and that did not work for me.

Hopefully Ford will issue a recall of these chargers.

Got mine installed and finished up 2 hours ago. Plugged in and was charging. I can't get it to connect to the network, so it's just been a dumb charger. It's going into a fault mode and resetting itself, which I am assuming is overheating in 80-amp mode like everyone else. I have enough range right now. I'm too tired to mess with taking the cover off and dialing it back to 64 amps tonight.

You can do it through the app...oh wait, you aren't network connected. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I have the CSP installed to a 100amp breaker on my panel and everything works fine, but I'm getting tons of messages on the FordPass app saying something went wrong. I see the list of charging events that coincide with the messages but nothing really gives me any idea what the actual issue it. It charges my truck just fine so I have no idea what's going on. Anyone else getting this?

I have been having similar problems with multiple amber light faults when set to 80 amps. Here is a link to a video I made of my experience so far:

I think they may have pushed an update out. I bumped it back up to 80 amps via the app and started charging it. After a while, it went from a pulsing blue light to pulsing blue light with a small solid amber light to the side, meaning reduced charging. I didn't get any messages in the FordPass app either.
