Hello @Ford Motor Company

Who at your organization should owners contact regarding charging issues with the Ford/Sunrun supplied Charge Station Pro that new Lightning owners received with their Extended Range trucks?

Thanks,

Mike
Are you having issues? I thought yours wasn't installed yet

No mine isn't installed yet but there are plenty of others on this thread that are having problems trying to find somebody at Ford to talk to about their problem. I was advocating for them, if that's okay..

I figured if the Ford rep here could run that down and provide people on this thread the phone number and proper rep to talk to it might be beneficial.

I know that the evse calls for 3 guage copper wire, but if it would take a larger wire (smaller guage) might that help with a heat problem?

I spent over 3 hours last week going from various Ford departments. Lady finally told me to call Sunrun which I did. They told me they would call me back in 3-5 days. It has been a week and no contact. I cannot monitor the charging station via the Ford Pass app as I can not connect to the charger without a password. Access code does not work and I hav tried every known password I have only has an Access Code which does not work.

CTBob- The access code and the wifi password are the same. Does your access code happen to have an O or a 0 ? For reasons I will never understand, Ford/Siemens decided to have a mixture of both zeros and capital O's in the access codes.

Another day and another hundred messages in the Ford Pass app telling something is wrong with my charger. BUT this time, when I clicked into the first message and clicked the Manage Station button, it took me to the charger screen with this new error message!

For everyone having troubles and can't get a hold of anyone at Ford. Go talk to your dealership service manager. You just bought the highest profile Ford product in decades, if not longer. And you spent close to $80k if not more. Get them to help you contact Ford. Explain to the service manager what's happening and get them to contact their corporate contacts, whomever they call when there's something they can't fix.

I finally got the overheated error as I was typing this.. It's 78 degrees here in the Hamptons currently and there is absolutely no reason my charger should be over heating.

The error above is the one I commonly get. 47 errors last night. Turning it down to 64 amps to see if that will solve it for now.

It is great that the truck is being supplied with the evse. It is a problem that the evse can't seem to handle its rated output. If you have to turn it down to 64amp for it to run properly then it is a 64amp evse. Is this a future recall waiting to happen? Sure it can be turned down, but then it isn't delivering what we "paid for". What's the difference in cost between a 64 amp and 80 amp evse?

64 amp:
https://store.clippercreek.com/level2/level2-40-to-80/HCS-80-64-amp-charging-station

80 amp:
https://store.clippercreek.com/level2/level2-40-to-80/cs-100-80-amp-ev-charging-station

FWIW i tried to buy a 80 amp, but the sales rep at Clipper Creek talked me into the 64 amp (at half the price with three times the warranty). And it comes with a pre-wired pigtail (since at that amperage you need a disconnect anyway).

Set to 64 amps and had only one error last night .

I’m wondering if there is anyone here who has taken delivery and has their charger installed and is charging at 80 amps without any errors in the FordPass app ?

I am charging at 80A without problems via a Tesla gen 2 wall connector and 80A TeslaTap, so the truck is definitely capable and has no problems or errors with 80A when on good equipment. I am awaiting shipment of my CSP.

(I really wish I didn't have to use an OBD adapter to access the charge current, that's rather crazy and Ford should show it to me *somewhere*.)
