I think they may have pushed an update out. I bumped it back up to 80 amps via the app and started charging it. After a while, it went from a pulsing blue light to pulsing blue light with a small solid amber light to the side, meaning reduced charging. I didn't get any messages in the FordPass app either.

That was fast. So we think it's still overheating but it is self regulating?

So is it really an 80amp capable evse if it overheats and de-rates to a lower amp level? If it is too not really 80amp capable that is probably Ok for most people, but then it shouldn't be marketed as an 80amp evse. Dialing down to 72 (not possible?) or 64 should be ok. It is more a problem of expectations. Based on the experience of other users I'd gladly take a $1300 credit and source my own 64amp evse. Maybe they will work things out before October.

FINALLY SOME HELP!!

After spent hours on the phone and dialing at least 14 800 numbers a FORD technician gave me the following number 855-950-6339 EXT 5678. He said Ford was not able to help since the charger was a3rd party piece of equipment. I just called this evening at 9:55 PM EST and a lady answered. She was very polite, told me they were aware of overheating issues. Took my name, phone # and email address. Asked me for a serial number but I was not able to locate it. She said she will send me an email and ask me to email her picture of my charger along with a picture of the sticker inside. She then said I would be given a case number. I encourage all whom have experienced a problem to call the number. Hopefully we are getting somewhere.

Yes, they keep asking for a serial number but I don't see one anywhere. There is an additional sticker that I found that I didn't see before on the top where the cable wraps around, but no serial number to be found.

I wonder if they meant the "station ID" (off that label under the hood). That seems pretty unique.. may be worth asking them that.

I gave them that. Then said they wanted the serial number too. I think they don't know what they are talking about. I even sent them a picture of the sticker.

is there any chance the serial # is visible in the app?
….or, maybe on the back (mounted) side of the unit???

When I spoke to the lady at Siemens about the serial number, she said all I had to do was mail a photo of the unit. I also included a photo of the sticker that I found on top of charger where to cable wraps. I wish there is a way I can get this information out to all Lightening owners.
