my 24 won't be supported due to encrypted canbus.
Has this been empirically confirmed? We know that the 2024 Lightning isn't exactly the same as the ICE version, it's still using at least one module that was for 2023 and earlier ICE F150s and is not compatible with the module designed for all other 2024 F150s. Is it possible that the encrypted canbus is implemented for the ICE version but not on the 2024 Lightning?

We have two 2024 that didn't work, but so far 4 or 5 that did. Odds are in your favor.

Interesting. Well maybe I'll take a shot, then. Looks like there's a trial period, so I can always return it if it turns out my 2024 is not compatible.

Thank you for that bit of information, I appreciate it.

Morning all! Just wanted to bubble this up again in case anyone has started producing the harness extensions. I am definitely in the market to purchase one.

Thanks!

Is anyone making for purchase the extension cable for the lightning? I have made two valiant attempts but still have a “pre collision system” warning so I must be missing something.

want to clarify this is for the “old” harness.

I have many parts to make the v1 extension. Ended up finding my q4 harness had a wire pulled out so comma sent me a v2. Now I had to order parts for a v2 harness. So I'll get more cable ordered to use up all my connectors. I'll pick a day to start making harnesses, then I'll sell them. How many need v1 vs v2?

At this point, I think that the 2024 lightning does not have TRON. The first two trucks that tried Comma wouldn't work and we assumed it was TRON, but the next 4 have worked, so I think the first two had a different issue.

Good afternoon!

Reading through and see people reporting mixed success results.

Can those who have tested the Comma.ai report the following information:

- Standard Range Battery or Extended Range Battery
- 2.4kW vs 9.6kW External Power Capabilities
- Max 10k lbs Tow package vs standard 7700lbs Capabilities
- Any other potentially relevant variables...

I've got a 2024 F-150 Flash Edition Extended Range Battery (2.4kw/standard 7700 tow).... Looking for some sort of confirmation of higher possibility before spending ~$1k on a BC replacement.

Cheers!

Should work. Even if it doesn't, Comma has a no-questions-asked 30-day return policy. Just costs you $10 in shipping.

I wanted to reply in earlier about it working, but anyhow here's my experience for now.
I have a 2024 F-150 Flash ER (9.6kw /w Max Tow) that's been working just fine with the Bluepilot fork of Openpilot on my Comma 3X.

Yeah.. I dont think it does. The TCU is the same as the ICE truck 21-23. Tron uses the TCU as a key back up.

It really hard to know. I look at the service manual and it says to run TRON authentication so I figured it has TRON.

Guess they are saying that for all of them now.

None of those affect compatibility directly. I say that because some XLT's and all Pro's don't come with ACC and the advanced version of LKA. Those features are a requirement for Comma3X. You have a Flash, so no worries on any of that.

There, initially, was conflicting results about whether or not the 2024 has encryption (which severs C3X's communications with the vehicle). Lately more and more users are saying they are getting it to work with their 2024's. I'd say buy it, load up BluePilot, and if you have issues...return it.

Having logged over 10,000 C3X miles, I can comfortably say it's worth it. I use it in full hands free mode on the highway (full control), and I use the Lane Keep feature while I drive around town with minimal intervention needed (I control accel/brakes).

There are alot of knowledgable members here and in the 14th Gen forum to help. There is also a good Discord community.
