This lighting is the first vehicle I have owned that will not allow me to reverse or go forward with the door open. It's very annoying when needing to move a few inches for multiple scenarios. Has anyone figured out how to code this out?

Open door, shift into D or R.

If you open the door it will go to Park.
But you should then be able to shift out of Park while the door is open.

Well they must of changed it for 24's. I can absolutely move the vehicle with the door open. Like I said above, it will go to Park if you open the door while in gear. But once the door is open, I can shift and move backward and forward. All with seat belt off.

I don't know how to code this out, but do know how to override it in the cab.

What is happening is that the instant you open the door, the truck is applying the parking brake. You can hear it and you can feel it if you push the accelerator, you will feel it trying to go.

For everyone else, this is NOT a situation of auto-park. The vehicle is staying in gear and yes the seatbelt is still on. The truck is auto-applying the parking brake.

To override this in the cab, put your foot on the brake and push the parking brake lever. This will disengage the parking brake and you can now move. Beware though, as soon as you come to a stop again, it will re-engage the parking brake immediately and you'll have to put your foot on the brake and push the parking brake again.

Inching the vehicle with the door open to watch where you are is really an exercise in frustration. Figure out how to do what you need to do by leaning out the window or get a spotter.

It is possibly yet another undocumented "feature" of the 2024s. Mine is a 2024 and it will stay in gear, but instantly applies the parking brake.

I have a 2024 flash, I can drive just fine with the door open and reverse. If I had my seatbelt off it switches to park but I can then have the door open and still put it in reverse or drive… it just throws a warning on the dash that the truck is not in park.

Why is everyone needing to drive with their door open? I guess with 360 cam option at least I don’t see a reason, maybe without the mirror cams there’s a case to be had somehow.

Yesterday I was at the recycling center dropping off a refrigerator. After backing up to the proper bin. I got out open the tailgate and realized I can Help myself by backing up another 8 in. Went back into the cab left the door open put it in reverse tried to back up but got denied. Had to close the door just to back up a couple inches.
Another instance is when I'm cleaning the truck and applying some tire shine hop into the truck door open go to put reverse so I can get the tires that are on the ground go to back it up a half a foot denied. So coming from multiple vehicles where I never had to close the door to move the vehicle yes this is a bit of a nuisance.

I have exactly the same experience with my 23. I want to back up just an inch to hook up my boat trailer, but I have to close the door to get the truck to move. What a pain!

Using the camera, I can perfectly position a trailer coupler every time in one shot. Hint: use zoom!
