This is completely fabricated nonsense. Qmerit is a large electrical contractor and has absolutely nothing to do with Sunrun. Sunrun is it's own company and likewise has nothing to do with Qmerit.

For the current problems people are having, remember who Qmerit works for in this. It is not you. Qmerit is being hired and paid for by Ford. Qmerit cannot do anything Ford doesn't let them do. I'd bet good money the problems with getting scheduled are all on Ford.
I contacted SunRun to have them install a new charger. They said they are using Qmerit to do that for them now. Maybe they are separate but they are working with/for SunRun.

They do not work with or for SunRun. When I received my FCSP from SunRun I could have chosen any installer to handle the install. There was no connection to Qmerit.
You also need to keep in mind that Qmerit subs out the work to a local electrician who has been vetted by Qmerit. So if there are issues with any of the local Qmerit vetted electricians in your area, that could add delay as well.
Note: I used Qmerit (based on @tommolog recommendation) about a year ago when I had my FCSP installed and this is the process that occurred then.

Qmerit is a network of licensed contractors, the same ones that have been operating in your areas for many years. Contractors can apply to join the Qmerit network and, if accepted, undergo training so they can install equipment to Qmerit standards, which are often higher than what a regular electrical contractor uses. For instance, they have to use high-quality industrial-grade outlets, torque wrenches to make sure all the connections are torqued to the manufacturer's specs (this is especially important for EV charging equipment), and only copper wire gets used for charging equipment.

To your point about extra time, it depends on the specific contractor. Quite often followers of mine have reported same-day contact, but it depends on a lot of factors. Overall, my followers are mostly happy with Qmerit, but there are occasional complaints. And that's another good thing about them - you now have a company on top of the contractor to contact and complain to if there is an issue. If Qmerit gets a lot of complaints about any specific contractor in the network, they remove them from it.

Qmerit is the new name for SunRun - the original installer recommended by Ford for the charging system installation. They changed their name because their reputation is SO bad. That’s all you need to know about them.
This is not true.

Qmerit is a large network of independent electrical sub-contractors.

They don't do the work themselves, they use their network of local electricians. If there is a delay in the process, it is because the local installers in your area are booked up - some areas have installs in a day or two, others in a few weeks. It all depends on how busy the electricians are.

I saw one person with a new Mach-E state that Qmerit told them they couldn’t find a contractor in their area. They’re trying to get the dealer to change their purchase from charger to dollar credit without much luck.

I bought my 2024 F150 on 12/5, contacted QMerit on 12/6 and had the local electricians install it on 12/13. I had an extra 40 feet of cable run over the 10 feet included in the basic installation and they charged me an extra $450 here in Michigan.

It was a very smooth process and I was very happy with both QMerit and my local electricians, Bazen Electric.
They told me the basic install was up to 80 feet?

Who's they?

Basic EV Charging Installation
  • Electrical Panel load calculation including an evaluation of power requirements for all existing electrical circuits and electrical appliances used in your home to ensure your charging installation fits within the capacity of your electrical infrastructure.
  • Professional hardwire installation of a customer provided wall-mounted charging station OR installation of a commercial grade NEMA 14-50 outlet for use with a customer supplied Level-2 charging cord
  • Assumes installation location is within 10 ft of electrical panel.
  • Installation of code compliant electrical wiring and conduit including all necessary connectors and couplings.
  • Installation of a new, properly sized breaker to appropriately support the available load and charging amperage output.
  • Power up charging unit and test for proper operation.
  • Project specific clean-up and disposal.

Not much different than Ford being the manufacturer and dealers being “independent contractors” some of them are good and some of them are not all depends on who has been hired for various positions within that company!

I called Qmerit last week and asked what the standard Ford installation included. Read page two of this thread, others had the same information.

I think the problem with the OP is that Qmerit has not assigned him a local contractor yet. Maybe they live in a small town? Still seems odd that Qmerit wouldn't at least say they are having trouble finishing a certified electrician in that area. Something doesn't add up.

You got the FCSP installed with home backup capability for $900??
I don't think I said that, did I? No, my install was just the charger. I was interested in the back up system until others reported so many problems with it. I'm now looking into alternate solutions. I won't do just a subpanel with generator port cuz I want to still be able to use my solar.
