Thanks everyone for the input. Just to clarify, this is more like a wishlist item than an issue. My Samsung phone has a battery around 4500mAh and drains fast. If I forget to charge it at night, the fast PD charging in the truck (if it had the feature) would have definitely been appreciated.

The feedback that I have is coming as an engineer. Sure, the corporate accountant may want to save a buck or two (which I am willing to pay), but 3 years in technology is like 2 generations. Engineers pushes the limits of technology otherwise our industry wouldn't be where we are today. PD wasn't even new technology back in 2021.

I bet there is a small PCBA behind those USB-C ports. It would be fairly simple to design a new board with PD to swap out the existing board as a hobby project...if only i had the free time (rare these days with kids) and money to cover the NRE to fabricate those boards with the minimum quantity required. Now that would be a fun project/hack.

I do agree with you. I’m a photographer and it’s pretty common to need to top up my cameras (and some lights) mid shoot. Sure I can add a device via the AC, but 45w would be great to have internally while driving between locations. More desirous would be to have the usb-c ports remain hot when the car is off… because that is what really drives me crazy.

Just plug in your phone to the 120 outlet, problem solved.
I’ll echo this. I’ve been a road warrior for several years. I’ve worked off CarPlay+Microsoft Teams, and kept my laptop plugged in either to USB-C for a slow charge or to the 120V if it was longer trips.

Power delivery is not something I have ever had an issue with in this thing.

If I were to request Ford to spend money and increase voltage on something, it would be the HV battery to a 800V architecture.

I would find it more useful if it was 45W or higher for plugging in a laptop. Then no need to carry around a power brick for the laptop.
It’s still an extra item, but I use one of these on the road to power the laptop:

I wonder if it's possible to retrofit a higher powered wireless fast charger into the existing location. As is, that stupid thing basically functions as a wireless phone heater instead of a charger.
I'm sure anything is possible, but it is also about the most inconvenient thing ever. I've just forgotten I even have one and allow it to charge via cable. If I'm in the truck I'm plugged in just for CarPlay.

I have never had a good experience with the built in USB-A/C ports on any of my vehicles. I went with a UGREEN 100w GaN brick with 3 USB-C and 1 USB-A ports to the 120V plug and strapped it steady with some velcro straps. Works great with all my phones and laptop when I need to work on the go. In the back, I have a smaller UGREEN 12V unit to feed enough power for up to 3 devices.

Higher power USB ports would be nice, along with PD on the USB-C. Also wish they'd left a 12V socket in the center console so I could add my own charger of whatever flavor I wanted, without having to have an adapter hanging out of my dash. edit: s/powers/ports/

I don't use my built-in ports either, in favor of a PD adapter. I think it is time all USB-C adapters are PD. I love being able to charge my phone or laptop off the same port. If there was a way to pop out the factory ones to replace with PD (without breaking the data connectivity), I would totally do it.

OP has a valid point and everyone makes excuses for Ford. They spend big money on a foldable shifter that hardly anyone uses. But can't give you a proper USB c port? Silliness in this day and age. I love my Lightning, favorite truck ever but not gonna make dumb excuses for oversights on the part of Ford
