Hi all!

I have been driving Ford EV's since 2021 since I took delivery of (I am 99% sure) the first MachE GT in Colorado. Sadly it was rear ended and totaled, so my wife had to pick a new EV (note she took on the MachE so I could get a Lightning...she let me trade in her Acura MDX...best wife ever..she fell in love with the MachE and was pissed it got totaled). I have been driving my awesome lightning for a year now (almost). Note for a replacement my wife, after driving the latest MachE GT even, went with the BMW i5...relevant in a moment.

I would historically berate the app as it has been rocky and rough. But now that I am two vehicles in and a long time app user PLUS having some experience recently with BMW's app and approach, I must to make a few comments that I HOPE @Ford Motor Company takes note of.

1. Please please please make the app more stable. It has always and continues to just shut down in the background on my iphone. I have almost abandoned PAAK for the FOB. But just can't go back to grabbing a fob in my pocket every day. But am very close to give up PAAK as the app seems to be constantly shutting down in the background.

2. On PAAK. I was freaking BLOWN AWAY with the iphone wallet approach BMW took to PAAK. It means that I do NOT need an app going (app is used for net remote actions only). With an iphone wallet card, the walk up response of the PAAK with a BMW is flawless and amazing. @Ford Motor Company please migrate someday to nearfield PAAK that uses the secure wallet of an iphone. Way better than "must have app active and hope it does not crash in background approach.

3. Please bring back all the stuff you lost...light control, route planning, etc. from old app to the new app (many a thread on that so I won't go on).

4. The BMW app showed me what charging mgt. was all about. Charging curves for every session. All the EV nerd stuff you could want.

5. Ability to use the cameras in the car for taking 360 images during events and using cameras as dash cams. Our trucks have tons o cameras yet you do NOTHING with it. Forget charging stupid $$ for bluecruise. At least getting camera use for stuff may actually make us pay for a subscription for a service. @Ford Motor Company Contact your FP&A team and have them do an analysis of pricing for camera event capture and what simulated 360 camera service can do. No brainer $20 a month or more.

6. Ability to put car in "pro power mode" remotely without starting the truck. This overlaps into "dog mode" and "camping mode" but please add that.

7. Please fix the charging location naming losses. I periodically have to change the name from "DefaultX" back to the name of the charging location I assigned months and months ago. I have no idea why this is so hard to keep stable charging location naming once you save a charging location.

Ok, thanks for letting me vent. Others will have way more. Love my lighting...best truck out there (and happy to have the blessed official Tesla charger adapter now a week ago!!!). I am even getting into towing with it and love it. My lighting is the best vehicle I have ever owned!!!!

Curious why the Iphone is shutting the app down, do you run a security app that is aggressively protective?

Running any beta OS's or other beta app's?

I was going to get an i5 as well, loved the interior and tech but the range was holding me back. We ended up buying 11 acres so the Lightning quickly became the more logical choice for me. Trying to get the wife to buy a neue klasse when they arrive

Just running normal ios...app shuts down all the time over many previous versions...no other apps I have ever shut down in the background (like most genX types, I end up having like 20 apps open and get called a boomer...then close them all). I just wish Ford would have embraced the apple wallet tech for PAAK...is not app dependent at all that way but for true remote controls over the internet like cabin control, etc.

The i5 has awesome range...will get well over 300 miles and beats the EPA numbers (better than the MachE was). Charges "middling" on the fast charging but it is a daily driver with rare road trips. But as you said, wife's call on what wife wants and mine wanted the German luxury

I feel as though I am very lucky in many ways.
Having this truck being one of them!-Love it
I don’t ever really have any problems with my iPhone and PAAK or FordPass app issues (including the crazy link to the FCSP )or wireless CarPlay issues in general but I see posts about other people having issues?? I have the 15 Pro Max FYI for those that have issues I don’t know if it is because it is a newer phone??
Also wondered if it is because I have the Lariat I just walk up put my hand on the door handle and it unlocks my door so I don’t have to use the phone or the fo. Is that option on all Lightnings?

I may have found the source of the crashing. I refuse to give any apps access to my location beyond "when app is in use" as a general principle...but FordPass does not like that. I enabled "always have location access" as the app seems to want today finally as a test and the app stays open all day, seems to have better response on walk-up BUT my battery drained a LOT faster. Oh the trade offs...

The main thing I would like is to be able to switch vehicles with no more than one click.

The iPhone app never crashes on me. Watch app is sometimes slow to respond but that’s all I use. Never have bothered with fob.

Fordpass is the largest battery hog on my phone though.

I use the wallet for all my home door locks and agree it would be way better than Bluetooth. Probably not happening for this generation.

After several more days I have found having the location "always on" which I HATE, it seems to make the PAAK work way way way better. The greeting is faster and more consistent (lights and running boards) and the app stopped crashing.

As long as I had the app though I kept it at "only while using" and never had issues with MachE or early Lighting, but now it seems to be what keeps PAAK working better, so I keep in always on (even though I don't like it).

I don’t notice any battery draining issues with my iPhone. But I agree PAAK needs lots of work. Half the time the truck does not “welcome” me when I walk up to it. Then have to put my hand in the handle several times before it wakes up and unlocks. I’ve just gone back to carrying the fob for now until they hopefully do some updates. Then the WAL also needs work as well.
