Anyone know if these will do AC charging as well as DC Charging? I thought the A2Z does not, but perhaps someone who has one has tried?
IIRC Tesla uses the same pins for DC and AC charging. The car figures our which one you're doing and has internal mechanisms that adjust things accordingly. Fords don't do this as CCS has separate pins for each. So these adapters shouldn't be able to do both.

Beyond my scope of knowledge, but what is to prevent someone from now making and marketing an CCS to CCS extension that you could plug this adapter into then plug the extension into the truck. Only needs to be about 3'. If it is a pass through could it be detected so that charging wouldn't be allowed?
Take it one step further.

But with CCS. Initiate the charge with the Lightning and plug in other vehicles. Or we can daisy chain it with pro power.

I don’t see how this could go wrong.

Plus if you look at the picture of the Ford adapter, it is missing the AC pins on the CCS side. DC only.

Ah, thank you. I can't remember that far back. :)

Also found it in today's press-release update (if I'd bothered to read it all the way through):
"The Fast Charging Adapter will provide Ford F-150 Lightning, and Mustang Mach-E owners access to Tesla’s V3 and above Superchargers. Ford will start to transition to the NACS charge port from 2025, removing the need for an adapter for direct access to Tesla Superchargers."

Ive been back and forth on this thought. On the one hand, I would love to not have to use an adapter. On the other, it’ll be nice being able to use CCS when needed during the transition. Sure I could buy a NACs to CCs..but this is free

When I was staying with friends for thanksgiving, I charged for 3 days with a Tesla mobile connector on 110v, a tesla tap, and then a 10ft j1772 extension cable. Me: 1, electrical fires: 0

I’ve got plenty of surge protectors that have not caught fire. Doesn’t mean someone won’t make one that isn’t safe, or that someone else won’t be an idiot with it…

I'm sure it will be keyed to the VIN and only work your vehicle exclusively. The Tesla charger won't work with any un approved adapters. My $0.02 :)
No way the adapter would be keyed to the VIN. Too much overhead and nothing in the system could check or confirm that. The charger talks to the vehicle.

Interesting. It looks like, it can lie to the truck about what the charger is saying and it can lie to the charger about what truck is saying. What possibly could go wrong? It can reduce the charging rates when things get hot. Does that mean you wait longer using this vs not using it? Interesting option to have but have to see how it works in real life.
The cables or adapters will not be able to ”talk” to the vehicle or the charger. To do that they would need their own power source because no power is available from either direction until the negotiation is complete so any active components in the adapter or cable would need a local source. They will likely just have thermistors that will disconnect the PP signal if the temperature goes too high which will stop the charge session.

If you want to reserve an adapter it probably depends if you are in a CARB state or your dealer prioritized their friends. Also they will start with lariet and above ......

I am guessing, but I bet the adapter is keyed to your VIN, in order to be acceptable within the Tesla network. As I said, I am guessing and if I loose, it's just a donut.
