I don't think I would change anything. While I guess I could have waited and gotten a higher spec'ed used Lariat for about the same price as what I paid for my Pro, my Pro was also brand new and I got to use it for the past year and a half.

I'd never go with a Cybertruck cause the price is too high and I want to be able to do actual truck things. The silverado looks decent, but too expensive for me. My Pro does everything I need it to do and I've added in all the functionality that I would have wanted from the higher spec'ed trims anyway (aside from the ER battery)

Kick your son out and tell him to walk the next time he ogles a CyberYuk. If I could go back, I’d have waited a few months for a 2024 with heat pump. When on an occasional road trip, I think “the ER and adaptive cruise sure would be nice,” but that’s so seldom it isn’t worth the extra cost.
Add the adaptive cruise control to your truck, it's totally worth it. Parts aren't that much and the job isn't that difficult if you're at all used to working on things. I added it to my Pro and it and the passive entry are my two favorite things

I'd buy TWO Lightning PROs, instead of 'just' one : )

My only regret and what I would have done differently, is to expand my search for a better price to nationwide. I limited myself to about 500 mile radius and ended up paying over MSRP in Feb '23 for a demo '22 model. I at least didn't have to pay for dealer extras but I wish I hadn't been so impatient and done more searching. Ford had just raised prices and at the time I thought I was going to miss out on the tax credit for an ER.

The Flash trim is really what I would have preferred, but I would not want to have waited for it, so I'd still pay MSRP for a '22 with no deletes.

2024 Flash
I've had a 24 Flash since December, but no regrets so far. It is a great vehicle for all-around city commuting and truck stuff, and it can make longer trips when needed. Pro Power and Frunk are amazing when you need them, so I would not be happier with an ICE. Flash is the perfect trim for me.

I pulled the trigger when I learned that they paused production due to oversupply. This was associated with various discounts, 0% financing, and the threat that the EV tax credit might end in 2025. Only time will tell whether it was the right time to purchase.

I looked at Rivian, but the nearest surface center is five hours away. I don't like the Chevy style. The same goes for CyberTruck. GMC is too expensive at the moment. It's possible a lower trim GMC would have been worth the wait due to faster charge time, but I do not want a huge battery that removes the acceleration and 'sportiness' of the Lightning. I also didnt like reviews of the mid-gate causing noise, the driving experience, and lower quality interior in Chevy. Not sure if that would have translated to GMC.

Very happy so far. My only fears are the reliability of all the electronics, whether my local dealer will be competent to fix things, and if parts will be available in a timely manner.

Same, I like my 22 Lariat ER in first-year-only ATLAS BLUE and wouldn't want to give up my big screen, but she loves her 23 XLT ER in STONE GREY because it's the exact same color as our gravel road splash, so she never has to wash it, and she can take the dogs in it without worrying about what it cost (mine was $82k/$72k hers $73k/$46k which was basically what she sold her Tesla for). Wouldn't change either, and super glad we got 2 ERs with no deletes. Awesome trucks, hope they last forever.
Cheers

Happy with what I have, nothing that's released since is any better and ours gives us everything we need. Ford needs to do a better job with the software updates, but otherwise the truck does everything we want and more.

Love this truck; I've owned a bunch of F150s and this is the best so far. If not for the tax incentives I think I would have gone for a Platinum, but having said that I'm really enjoying the Lariat.

2023 Lightning XLT w/Max Tow and TT Packs
EDIT/addition:
The GOOD part of the Pro that I would not want to give up in a higher trim is the smaller screen and physical knob controls, as well as no glass roof.

Ideally, I'd love to be able to option a truck without being prisoner to specific "packages".

This is why I jumped on my 2023 XLT ER with the 312A option back in April. All of the ADAS goodies without the BlueCruise eye nanny, physical controls, no sunroof, or leather seats..The only thing I would have wanted in the Flash is the heat pump but there was no way I could have gotten a deal close to what I got on my 2023, plus I would have had to give up the physical controls.
Nope.

I am super happy with my Lightning and would not trade it for anything else currently on the market and have zero regrets. Talk to me when they finally get a Ranger or Maverick EV at dealerships and I might change my mind.

I bought a base 23 XLT with only the 9.6kw PPOB option :) which I have set up to power about 75% of my home in an emergency. I plan on keeping this truck for at least 10 years and will be purchasing an extended warranty soon. The 9.6kw PPOB should have been standard on all Lightnings.

We bought a 2023 Lariat ER in October 2023 when
  • Ford was offering $7,500 rebate
  • I had a PCO,
  • the dealer offered $2,500 discount
  • Ford Reinvoiced the truck about $8k less then original so is was now below $80k
  • therefore is qualified for for the $7,500 tax credit.

I wanted a Platinum but it didn't qualify to tax credit.

Today if my Lightning needed to be replaced I would be looking for a lighly used 2022 Platinum without deletes.

I was lucky to find a 22 Lariat ER dealer demo with 2300 miles at a 25% discount from MSRP. The truck has been a joy to drive and live with. I’m in rural Virginia which is heavy p/u country. People are curious about the truck, but can’t wrap their heads around what it is and are suspicious of the technology. But in all ways it outperforms a previous (ice) F-150. I would purchase my truck again and I have no regrets or second thoughts.

I would’ve entertained the Cybertruck for the same money. I like the aesthetics of the Lightning better, but Tesla has the best EV software and charging network. i really like everything Musk is doing for the past couple of years.

If I were buying again today with the same financials as when I leased my Flash last month I would make the same decision. The Silverado isn’t for me, I saw one recently and really hated it. The Rivian is interesting, but they designed the lift over frunk poorly.

If I was to do it all over again, I would have started looking at the Lightnings a year before I did this August/September. Probably would have purchased a 2023 Lariat instead of my 2024.

I should have added something similar in my original answer. If I had to do it over, I would skip the Mach-e and go straight to the Lightning. I loved the MME, but I like the Lightning even more...and the Lightning can tow!
