I really enjoy my truck but in the last two weeks, I've noticed a big jump downward in the estimated mileage. It's showing 179 estimated at 90% charge right now.

I've only had the truck.for 3 months. It seems a little early for that kind of drop.

I'd anticipate higher potential miles with warmer weather on the horizon, was it cold the day you took this screenshot?

No and it's actually been warming up lately. It'll be 80+ on Tuesday where I live.

We call it a Guess-O-Meter for a reason. Try resetting your driving stats and see what it does. There are a ton of factors that go into this, but most of us just watch miles per kilowatt-hour (mi/kWh), to see how it’s performing.

During the winter I will get anywhere between 1.5-1.8 and during the summer it can be 2.1-2.9. It also has the side benefit of seeing how your driving style is affecting the range. Highway speeds above 70 are gonna eat into that number pretty quickly as well.

That mileage meter is not a sign of anything. If you got in the truck and drove it in a non-stop straight line at 65 MPH I about guarantee you would go further than 179 miles. It's an estimate, just like with my last several ICE F-150s depending on weather, driving conditions, my driving, etc, my total miles per tank estimate, again, ESTIMATE, could be 500 miles or 800 miles. A huge difference.

The truck just makes estimates, it can't tell the future any better than you can, so why people stress about the miles I will never understand. All it indicates is the truck thinks that is about how far you can make it. If you go out and drive at max speed it will die much sooner, if you drive at 55, it will likely go a good deal further. If it's cold when it does the estimate, it will estimate lower, if it's warmer, it will be higher.

So just drive it and do what you probably did with ICE vehicles, and just worry about the state of charge (like level of the fuel tank) and not the range estimate. If it's at 10% and you're on a highway, time to charge. If it's at 100% sitting in your garage, things are probably going to be okay.

Sigh...

Reset your driving history, and then you will be happy. It won't change anything, but you'll be happy.

Egg on face perhaps....

I've been allowing my partner to take the truck to work recently. If it's based on driving trends, she's a nut driver and I'm surprised it's not worse.

Ha, it can be a number of factors, especially on the EVs because they added more variables to the calculation. If you are ever on the MachE forums there are tons of these same types of threads. People think it's battery degradation or whatever, but then the threads disappear suddenly in the summer. Or people reset the trip data like others suggested on here and find it is their driving environment (not always how they drive, but they live in an area with tons of stop lights and traffic, or maybe they always drive an expressway with 80MPH speed limits or whatever).

That's why I wish they weren't so in your face on the mileage estimate, it seems to just feed people's range anxiety when they haven't run into any actual issues.

with only 3 months worth of driving the GOM doesn't have much data to work with. Now that I have 15k miles worth of data I find the GOM to be quite accurate. case in point, the other morning I woke up to 30 degrees and the GOM (85% on an ER) showed 213 miles. two days later with 85% and 70 degrees it shows 260. only difference was temperature. But I never noticed that behavior the first winter I had the truck... it constantly learns.

you can reset trip 2 before your partner drives it and see mi/Kwh upon return and compare it with yours to see how much that contributes.

In general, I think your truck is fine. Just pay attention to mi/KWh on different trips until you get a feel for how the truck thinks. Then you can guestimate better than trucks guestimator.

These threads pop up all the time and I'm generally annoyed by them because without fail - until today - the OP posts without doing any research and when given the answer is never heard from again.

This is easily the best reply I've ever read. I tip my cap to you. Welcome to the forum!😆

56k miles on my SR and I pay no mind to how many miles it says. SOC %, average trip efficiency and a little maths is the way.

When you get into your truck, if you aren’t driving more than 150 that day, just put a piece of cardboard over that side of the cluster and enjoy your awesome ride.
